Margarita night could have been such a blast with friends. However, after standing in line for 45 minutes (some stood in line for an hour and a half) because the line was all the way out to the street and there was ONE ticket window! ONE! My friends had bought a table with the promise from Starlight that there would be wait staff for us - and there was ONE waitress to take care of 31 tables!! The tables were pre-sold so management knew that there would be 31 tables of people plus the VIP tables. WHY IN THE WORLD DID YOU PUT JUST ONE PERSON TO WAIT ALL 31 TABLES????? Plus, my friends ordered nachos and waited for 3 hours until he finally decided to go get them himself, just to find out the kitchen closed at 10. He ended up getting his nachos after having a few words with a manager about the service. The band was not good, the service was awful, getting 6 tiny shots of margaritas and for my very first experience at Starlight - not impressed at all. The venue and the idea are wonderful but for a company running it (The Big Texas Steak Ranch) that also runs a world renowned restaurant - come on, you should...
Read moreWhile in Amarillo I decided to take in the Tangled Lights event. I love looking at Christmas lights! 🙂
The show is 25 minutes long. It is a pixel light show. For a $13 per person entry fee + tax you can take in the show or, if you are inclined, all 3 showings (7:00, 8:00 & 9:00). I figured once I'd attended once I didn't need to see the same thing over & over lol. The show features 4 Christmas "light bulbs" talking about the meaning of Christmas & the reason for the different celebrations during the season.
You can walk around the area and take in different sights. I've posted the map. Honestly, it looks bigger & better than it was. There's a stage with an animatronic Santa singing where you can press buttons to control different stage lights. If you wanna 2 step to the music there's plenty of space. There's a mini golf course. But it was 18° when I was there - pass. 😂 The hot chocolate was popular; it's $5 a cup. They have some alcohol selections too. They advertised funnel cake & funnel dogs but they weren't making them that night; which was opening night.
All in all it was "okay." I wouldn't...
Read moreI’ve attended 2 events here And I really love the space. It feels like a really tiny midstate fair. There’s little buildings all around and a nice big stage and seating area. The VIP area was really nice where we sat and watched a concert. One of these events I was a vendor. I had trouble with the Wi-Fi for my square reader but I hear they may have resolved that now. There’s a tiny little playground and mini golf on site. They have always had additional Porta potty‘s in addition to their regular restrooms. The on-site bar actually has whiskey and vodka and tequila which is nice. Too bad they don’t serve big Texan beer! That would be an awesome addition and I would pay more money for specialty beer rather than Bud Light! I really quite like this venue. I will say that when the wind blows it can get quite dusty out there which isn’t ideal but it is...
