Perfect Games was a good establishment to celebrate my daughter's birthday party at. I have previously celebrated multiple events there, from birthday parties to bachelor parties.
Whether you're an adult looking for relaxing environment, good drinks; decent food; entertaining games; and bowling, there's not much else in Ames that can deliver like Perfect Games.
However as is often the case it's the staff that really makes the place shine or sore in hindsight. The current Ames staff is very chill. In the evening the guy that seems to run The show can often be found cruising around and helping people out in his wheelchair. When he's not busy helping customers or hooking you up, he is often playing the beer pong game. Challenge him if you like.
They do seem to need some experience bartenders, however it was fun to teach the bartender (who was working her first night) how to make an old fashioned. Yes, the drink that so old it's literally called the old-fashioned. They were lacking simple syrup, at least as far as we could find, however it's always fun when you play with others.
Also laser tag, bowling as I mentioned, they got slides for kids for the bowling lanes, and they're pretty accommodating. Just don't try to get anything at the vending machine because it's a POS.
If you're looking to be young and rowdy, it's not the place. But if you're ambient and chill, it's a pretty enjoyable environment for any mindset or headset.
But for all you young and ready folks, Sleep Inn is right next door get some sleep and survive...
Read moreWent there in the afternoon last week with the family. The summer prices were reasonable. While bowling our lane failed. The staff was attentive but couldn't fix it. We waited 10 to 15 minutes then moved to another lane. The place was 1/4 full, so I couldn't understand why they didn't just move us sooner.
We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and it came out full of bubbles. The waitress was nice and did a good job. The pizza tasted ok it just looked like someone didn't know what they were doing had made it.
Returned recently in Oct 2017. It was a Saturday night and very busy. The waitress serving our lane had so many tables she was overwhelmed and couldn't return very quickly. One drink order took 15 minutes. I had to go to the bar myself.
Returned again in June of 2018. Bowling went well and daytime/weekday prices were reasonable. We ordered package for an extea large pizza, 2 hours of bowling, $20 arcade credit and pitcher of soda for $50. We added appetizer sampler, which was disappointing, mostly homemade fried potato chips. The service was quite good and the staff more attentive this time out.
Overall suggestion - go to Perfect Games during off peak hours for better pricing and by far better service. They just can't do a good job when they've got a packed house. Don't expect great food, theirs is...
Read more$29 for an hour of bowling, not including shoe rental. WOW EXPENSIVE. Run the other big bowling alley in town out of business and then jack up the prices. This weekend myself and 2 friends bowled for 45 minutes (the shut your game off exactly when your time runs out, in 15-minute intervals) and two of us had $3 shoe rentals. No drinks and our bill was $13 PER PERSON. ... for 45 minutes? We're not amazing bowlers so we only finished 1 full game and 7 frames into the 2nd one before our lane got shut off. Nice.
On a positive note, the arcade was fun. My girlfriend could be entertained there for hours!
Also, like stated by others, I don't necessarily mind a waitress coming to your table and asking if you want drinks, but I'm not going to tip you for the 10 seconds time... so the fact that Perfect Games sets out these 'table card holder' things (at EVERY table) which state "it is polite and proper to tip 15-20% if the service your waitress provided was positive" is aggravating to say the least. To top it off, on checkout your receipt you must sign at the register has a blank line for "tip"....
