Don’t let the name fool you! Superstitions OK Carrol Stables is anything but ok! My group of 4 went out for their 4:30 pm beginners horseback ride and it was not only beautiful scenery but wonderful temperature for this time of year. You can tell the horses are well taken care of, treated very well and respected. Our guide, Mike, was absolutely fantastic! He read our group’s energy and vibe very well and kept us laughing the whole time while keeping us safe. We were all beginners and some were more nervous than others, but everyone felt comfortable and safe the whole time and all eventually loosened up by the end. The horses they chose for everyone definitely matched our group well and needed very little guidance, but when they did they followed everything perfectly. It was a lot of fun getting on and off the horses in the traditional way vs using a ladder or step stool. Would absolutely take another ride with them, especially with Mike. We had an absolute blast!

My mom is a very experienced horse rider (owns 4 of her own) but never rode in the desert. And on vacation from mn! Thought it would be a great experience to do this. There were 4 of us girls. Including my 10 year old daughter. We had the best horses, and best guide Denny. He was funny and made it enjoyable. Now the bad, although there is a waiver, our mom is prob more experienced than the female that was also there doing whatever her job title was. She was very rude and made us uncomfortable. We paid a lot of money and her comment was “mam if you keep doing that I’m going to ask you to get off” all my mom was trying to was fix the twisted reins. She just kept making little smirky remarks. I recommend that she gets talk to because it’s not ok to make others feel so uncomfortable:

We had a fantastic time! Josh was our guide for our one hour tour. My wife rode Ace and I was on Hammer. Both horses were great. It was pretty much my first time on a horse and Josh and Hammer made it easy for me. Josh taught us a lot about the area and the Superstition Mountains, all very interesting. The only bummer was that the photos of both of us on the horses didn’t turn out because they were out of focus, but I don’t blame them for that because just being able to take a picture on horseback is difficult enough. Afterwards, we went to the nearby ghost town, which we highly recommend as well. The one-hour tour at 9a in May was the perfect length for us. We were getting pretty toasty by the end, but we got to see a lot and got the hang of riding the horses.

Its been a few years since I was there. Just looked up their web site because I am planning on going back in the next couple of weeks. My grand daughter had always talked about riding, she was 7, never rode and it had been decades for me. While watching my grand daughter pick out the horse she wanted to ride I began to wonder if I was doing the right thing, is she too young, (you do have to be at least 6) she seems so little next to these horses and so on, of course she was filled with excitement. The staff, knowing how inexperienced we both were picked out the horses best suited for us. She was lucky enough to get the horse she was hoping for, not because she wanted it, because he was the best candidate for a young inexperienced child. The only all white, largest horse in the corral, named "Cotton". They strap on her helmet, securely get her mounted on Cotton, as I look up to this little girl now 6-7 feet off the ground with the biggest, glowing smile on her face, my expression was more "the deer in the headlights" look, I am sure. Although I considered a couple of times not to go through with this and wait till she was older, I gained trust in the staff that they knew what they were doing and wanted nothing to happen to either of us, as much as I did. Our guide was wonderful, patient and soft spoken, man, he, again went over safety, rules and tips on handling these huge beauties, answered all of her questions, and answered in a way she understood. As we hefaded out for our hour ride, thinking we would be on a back road some where was wrong thinking. We headed into the mountain, up and down hills, over rocks, down in washes, there was no back road to be found, boring ride, not at all. Beautiful ride, our guide told us history and stories and again, answered all questions of a 7 year old. Needless to say, these folks know what they are doing, they take their time, make you comfortable, answer all your questions and gave a 7 year old a memory she will have all of her life, and grandma too. I highly recommend them, they know their business and are there to show you a good time. She has been bugging me to go again, (actually bugging me fora few years, she is almost 12) we will be going in the next couple of weeks, and it will be to the OK Corral. One more thing, Cotton, what a gentle sweetheart, this horse knew he bad a child on his back, through the rough terrain it seemed as though he tip toed to keep her from swaying, after a few mins. Into our ride, I did start to relax and had a great time. Thank you OK Corral for making...

TL;DR - History, good people, tame horses, botany, gold mine, experienced guide, family run business. I recommend it.

My daughter (eight years old) and I were visiting the Grand Canyon (GC) from Minnesota. We took a short road trip from Phoenix to the GC Park and back. I was looking for a way out of going to the Phoenix Zoo on Sunday (our last day in Arizona)! Horseback riding was "the way!" (yuss I was just channeling "The Mandalorian." I researched several ranches and chose this one because it sounded cool and the location sounded interesting. It is near a ghost town (for tourists...). The prices were very reasonable as a bonus. I had good vibrations about it and I learn to trust that feeling. I called them and got a call back from Jesse fast for a reservation on the same day. When we arrived the folks working were pleasant and casual, which I appreciate. Ron greeted us as we walked in. His personality was what you would expect from an older cowboy and it set a nice casual tone for the whole experience. Josh and Jesse helped us get situated with the horses. They were low key about it and made it a relaxing experience. I have a good amount of riding experience but I hadn't been on a horse for around 15 years. During the ride we learned that Jesse and Josh are reality television folks - treasure hunters for the Travel Channel among others and apparently the whole family were/are gold miners. Frank, our tour guide was the highlight of this trip. He was knowledgeable about the botany and history of the area. He is an Army veteran and works as a guide in both Wyoming (summer) and Arizona (winter). He has been riding all his life, he is passionate about it and he is a genuine and warm person. Frank was great with my daughter, answering all her questions and showing her how to take care of his horse (remove the bit and saddle) after the ride was over. My daughter rode Molly and I rode Billco, both were super tame trail horses. In the past, I prefer riding horses with a bit more spunk but I was alright with the choice because it's been a while. Overall they are a very unique and charming group of people with a good story.

The riding area sits on the historically largest gold mine (don't quote me on this - it was a big one) in Arizona and you can see Superstition Mountain during the ride. We learned some fascinating history about the area and I never thought about mining or treasure hunting before that ride. I would definitely go and ride with these folks again if I am...

We recently had the pleasure of spending a day at Superstition's O.K. Corral Stables, and I can confidently say it was one of our family's most memorable experiences! From start to finish, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home.

The horseback riding itself was an absolute delight. The trails offered stunning views of the desert landscape, showcasing the beauty of the area in a way we had never experienced before. Each ride felt like an adventure, and it was fantastic to see our kids, aged 8 to 12, truly enjoying themselves. They were thrilled to be riding alongside us, and the gentle, well-trained horses made the experience safe and enjoyable for everyone.

The staff took the time to ensure that we were comfortable with our horses and provided helpful tips throughout the ride. Their passion for horses and the outdoors was evident, and it made the experience even more special.

We highly recommend Superstition's O.K. Corral Stables to any families looking for a fun and unique activity. Whether you're an experienced rider or a complete novice, this is an experience you won't want to miss. We can't wait to return for...
