The Arecibo Lighthouse Beach is a beautiful and picturesque destination that attracts visitors from near and far. With its stunning views, soft sandy shores, and crystal-clear waters, it is no wonder why this beach is a popular spot for families and tourists looking to relax and unwind. However, one of the downsides of this beach is the fact that swimming is restricted to only a few feet out from the shore.

While the Arecibo Lighthouse Beach may offer a tranquil and serene setting for sunbathing and enjoying the scenery, the restricted swimming area can be a disappointment for those looking to take a refreshing dip in the ocean. The limited swimming area may be due to safety concerns, such as strong currents or underwater hazards, which could pose a risk to swimmers venturing further out into the water.

Despite the restrictions on swimming, there are still plenty of activities and amenities available at the Arecibo Lighthouse Beach to keep visitors entertained and engaged. Families can enjoy picnicking on the beach, building sandcastles, or simply soaking up the sun while listening to the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Additionally, the beach offers opportunities for beachcombing, birdwatching, and exploring the nearby lighthouse and surrounding grounds.

While the restricted swimming area may be a drawback for some visitors, it is important to remember that safety should always be a top priority when enjoying any beach or waterfront destination. By adhering to the rules and regulations set in place by the beach authorities, visitors can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for themselves and their families.

In conclusion, while the restricted swimming area at the Arecibo Lighthouse Beach may be a downside for some visitors, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy and make the most of this beautiful destination. Whether it's lounging on the beach, exploring the lighthouse, or simply taking in the breathtaking views, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this picturesque beach. So, next time you visit the Arecibo Lighthouse Beach, be sure to embrace the restrictions and make the most of your time spent in this idyllic and...

After a weekend getaway at Playa Crashboat, my husband and I decided to stop in Arecibo on the way home. January thru late-March welcomes migrating whales. Arecibo Lighthouse offers wonderful vantage point for whale watching. Of course, you aren't guaranteed to spot a whale. However, Arecibo Lighthouse and Historical Park has plenty of activities to keep all ages entertained. $15 admission fee for adults. ((Sorry‐I do not recall cost of child's fee)) Park closes around 6pm. As you enter the well-kept grounds you're greeted by a young Taino spear fishing in shallow water. Wooden ships dot the landscape. Climb the ladder and take pics from the deck of one of these ships. From this vantage point it's easy to imagine the wondrous awe of sailors discovering the magnificent island for the first time. The view is beautiful, especially if seen at sunset. The park has recreated lifelike scenes with painstaking detail. Continue up and onwards towards the lighthouse on wide, cement pathway. Wheelchair accessible to the observation deck. WHAT A SIGHT! The lighthouse is amazing and provides a generous view of the Atlantic and beyond. There are plenty of spots to observe navy blue water crashing against rocky, jagged cliffs. If I was a whale, I couldn't ask for a better place to observe humans. The lighthouse interior displays artifacts from the past: a large anchor claimed by the sea near the Hatillo coast, maps, flags, an old dive suit, a PR coat o' arms. Need to cool off? There's a small waterpark for youngsters. Public restrooms and a concession stand can be located near the waterpark.

We didn't spot any whales while visiting the Arecibo Lighthouse...but I sure enjoyed keeping watch. It was worth the time and money. Go early so you can enjoy all the park's amenities. Parking is free. Parking is also available along the beachside.

There is something always interesting with lighthouses. They have an intrinsic simple and solitary personality that make them attractive. And this lighthouse is no different. Too bad that somebody have the bad idea to put a fence around this historic place that belongs to the Puerto Rican people and made a sort of fun park for kids where you get charge a steep price to get in. We never went in, it was late and we saw the light house from the outside. This is not the only thing to see here though, the place is obviously close to a beach, and a great beach it is. There is a steep hill that you can climb (very carefully) and at the top take some spectacular pictures. In the way over to the beach, there is some close to a boat dock where some people fish, etc. Along the road you will see the small vendors selling all kind of local food, fruits, and beverages. Arecibo is the place where the big USA radars are located ( the ones that for the first time in history detected some kind of signal that scientists can't explain and some say is an attempt of communication...., since then there are others biggers that have also detected the signals) Not bad for just traveling around in a car with a...
