Would I return? Absolutely not.
I mapped out the "best" restaurants to visit while in Arecibo, PR, and this was on my list. I was really looking forward to good authentic PR food and great Latin vibes.
The vibes they delivered but nothing else.
I started with the Captains Mojito. It was a good looking drink at first sight, but I would have appreciated it if it had been served in a glass rather than in a plastic cup. Then the taste. It was completely watered down.
There were no real fruit flavors and zero alcohol. I live in the heart of Manhattan, where I'm used to great drinks, and though I wasn't expecting Manhattan style drinks, I was expecting some Puerto Rican rum! Didn't deliver, and I sent it back.
The sorullos were tasty.
I ordered the fish fillet in creole sauce, and to make this short, it took a long time to come out, and once received, the waiter literally sneezed all over the food. Yes, sneezed and cleaned his nose with his hands.
Was I in shock? Yes. Did the plate at least look appetizing? NO.
The table beside me immediately stopped eating after seeing the waiter come in with my food, and we just looked at each other. He even went as far as having to confirm with the waitress this happened.
No one was happy, and clearly, they didn't care their staff member wasn't well.
Not for me.
Best of luck with your meals. May it settle well. Never...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant after it being recommended to us. The experience started out nicely and they were great and pleasant. We had our appetizers and they were delicious and the waitress was very nice and accommodating. We made it clear from the beginning that we do not eat pork in any form and the waitress said she would make sure our food would not have any pork in it. I ordered the mofongo with shrimp and when I recieved it and took one bite I knew there was bacon in it. I called the waitress over and she insisted there wasn’t anything and so I kept eating thinking maybe my taste buds were off or that they cooked it near bacon. Until I literally saw a bacon bit on my fork. I opened the mofongo and started dissecting it and found bacon pieces all throughout. I called the waitress over again and showed it to her. She apologized profusely and said she would get me a new one, but I was already turned off from eating. She said she had told the kitchen but they had messed up. They did not strike this from the reciept and when we brought it up again when we were paying the lady half heartedly apologized and said it’s not the waitress’ fault it’s the kitchen’s and I told her that that’s worse. My husband brought up what if it were an allergy - we would be headed to the hospital now. Anyway, never going back and not recommending this...
