Would I return? Absolutely not.

I mapped out the "best" restaurants to visit while in Arecibo, PR, and this was on my list. I was really looking forward to good authentic PR food and great Latin vibes.

The vibes they delivered but nothing else.

I started with the Captains Mojito. It was a good looking drink at first sight, but I would have appreciated it if it had been served in a glass rather than in a plastic cup. Then the taste. It was completely watered down.

There were no real fruit flavors and zero alcohol. I live in the heart of Manhattan, where I'm used to great drinks, and though I wasn't expecting Manhattan style drinks, I was expecting some Puerto Rican rum! Didn't deliver, and I sent it back.

The sorullos were tasty.

I ordered the fish fillet in creole sauce, and to make this short, it took a long time to come out, and once received, the waiter literally sneezed all over the food. Yes, sneezed and cleaned his nose with his hands.

Was I in shock? Yes. Did the plate at least look appetizing? NO.

The table beside me immediately stopped eating after seeing the waiter come in with my food, and we just looked at each other. He even went as far as having to confirm with the waitress this happened.

No one was happy, and clearly, they didn't care their staff member wasn't well.

Not for me.

Best of luck with your meals. May it settle well. Never...

We came to this restaurant after it being recommended to us. The experience started out nicely and they were great and pleasant. We had our appetizers and they were delicious and the waitress was very nice and accommodating. We made it clear from the beginning that we do not eat pork in any form and the waitress said she would make sure our food would not have any pork in it. I ordered the mofongo with shrimp and when I recieved it and took one bite I knew there was bacon in it. I called the waitress over and she insisted there wasn’t anything and so I kept eating thinking maybe my taste buds were off or that they cooked it near bacon. Until I literally saw a bacon bit on my fork. I opened the mofongo and started dissecting it and found bacon pieces all throughout. I called the waitress over again and showed it to her. She apologized profusely and said she would get me a new one, but I was already turned off from eating. She said she had told the kitchen but they had messed up. They did not strike this from the reciept and when we brought it up again when we were paying the lady half heartedly apologized and said it’s not the waitress’ fault it’s the kitchen’s and I told her that that’s worse. My husband brought up what if it were an allergy - we would be headed to the hospital now. Anyway, never going back and not recommending this...

Today (11/15/2020) is my first time eating at this restaurant and I am very impressed. The food is delicious to say the least, I had “La Lomita del Campo” which is Churrasco (Skirt Steak) stuffed with sweet plantains mofongo on a bed on arroz mamposteao and a cheese sauce. The flavor was spot on, and had a perfect mix of salty and sweet that I personally enjoy. The wife had “El Faro” and she loved it. I can’t personally say anything about it because I can’t eat shellfish but she is a very picky person and she really enjoyed it as well. Portions are perfect, prices are amongst the best I’ve seen for this type of restaurant. The service was relatively fast considering we were a party of 9 people. We didn’t wait more than 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday. The best drink variety, and the piña colada’s I’ve had EVER. I really don’t see anything wrong with this place. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will return to taste different dishes.

Delicious food at reasonable prices, with a stunning view! We stumbled upon this place during a beach day and really enjoyed lunch here. The views of the beach were stunning, the food was tasty, and lower prices than what we had seen in other beach/touristy spots. We had the mofongo, ceviche, fries, and mamongaom rice (stir fried rice with beans, onion, pork, and peppers) and all were tasty and fresh. We also got juices, lemonade, and a pina colada and the passion fruit juice (jugo parcha) was by far the best. The pina colada was too sweet for my liking and wasn’t very cold/ice blended — just a chilled creamy drink which you don’t expect under the “frappe” name. Overall very quick service too (which has been uncommon for our time in PR).
