We went here for a birthday cook out. There had been a burn ban in place, but it had been raining for almost 10 hours straight the night before so we thought it was lifted since there was standing water all over the ground. We set up under a Pavillion and had the whole party set up already. The sebastian county cop working off duty security then drives up on the grass to avoid walking in the mud to tell us the Pavillion was reserved and we couldn't use the charcoal grill for the burn ban. Annoyed he didn't tell us 30 minutes ago as he'd been sitting on the edge of the parking lot the whole time, we tried to not let it ruin the day. We moved to another Pavillion and picked up pizzas. An hour later, no one was still occupying the previous Pavillion. Then another family brings a smoker and a propane grill and began cooking with nothing said to them. So we take our party of about 10 people to a near by softball field and began playing a recreational game like we had planned. About 20 minutes into the game, the same cop comes to tell us we can't be on the field. I questioned that there were no signs saying it was private and no fences preventing us from entering it. He got defensive and told us we had to leave and it was only allowed for scheduled games. I then asked about the other people grilling and he said he just must of not seen it. But he drove past them to come tell us to...

Ben Geren is an expansive local park here in Ft. Smith including baseball fields, Minnie golf (Gator Golf), a waterproof with several slides and pools that's slated for more attractions soon, an indoor sports facility, picnic areas, a 27 whole golf course and jogging/walking tracks and paths. It also includes pavilions and lots of open spaces to run, explore or throw a blanket down and count clouds. The golf course is one of the top courses in the region and is the first to initiate a native prarie program with areas designated as natural, native prarie lands where a wide variety of Oklahoma native grasses and plants attract an impressive amount of indigenous animals and insects. These areas lend themselves to studies and research from many state and community colleges and high school biology and science classes alike. Each nine holes hold challanges and surprises for the golfer and nature lover. The course offers a snack bar and pro shop with course swag, clips and gifts. It also employs one of the premier long drive hitters in the nation, Downtown Matt Brown, who has consistently landed in the countries top 15 to 25 long ball hitters. Ben Geren offers something for everyone and is a true Jewel in the crown of Western Arkansas and eaten Oklahoma. Y'all come...

This park has an extensive network of paved multi-use trails that traverse varying terrain and scenery. It really is a beautiful area for biking/walking/running. There is also a lengthy mountain bike trail winding throughout the park complete with a few features to add even more fun. Don't forget about the tennis courts/baseball/softball fields and paved running loop with a few outdoor workout stations.

Nice family oriented park. Great place to ride a bike, play golf (regular, disc or mini), softball, soccer, have a family picnic, a water park that rivals many of the large ones I've been to. And this year a FlowRider surf simulator. Fort Smith is fortunate to have such a diverse park for family oriented entertainment.

We went for a Family Fun Day event. Food trucks were good, parking can be a bit tedious, but thankful the playground has canopies over most of the playground equipment. It can get brutally sunny and the plastic equipment gets hot fast. Nice to have bathrooms right next to the playground, too.
