Horrible experience! We couldn't check in until at least an hour after the posted time and they didn't tell us any housekeeping issues like we had to leave towels outside the door in order to have them replaced. The room was dirty, we had booked a lake view and got a parking lot view (which apparently was our fault for not checking because we booked through Expedia). When we needed new towels we were rudely informed we had to leave dirty towels in the hallway in the morning and they would leave clean. They never left clean and I was then told that they take all the dirty ones and wash them and bring clean ones later in the afternoon but they didn't have any to give us to replace the ones we had left out, which made a bit fun experience after needing to shower after the pool. Only one pool was open, we were there over the summer, one day the outdoor one was open the other day only the indoor one was open. There were no phones in the room to call the front desk, and after calling it was faster to just walk across the parking lot to get answers. We ate at the fancier restaurant which had slow service (although our waitress had a huge table in her section so I give her some credit for that). There was good options on the gluten free menu that weren't available and were sent to our table not gluten free which luckily we realized or I would have gotten extremely sick. The table next to us had chicken served to her raw (twice!) And the server just put the chicken on a different plate and told her he would have that redone but she could still eat the sides. She fought that because of all the raw chicken juice on her plate.

I would never recommend staying here, which is unfortunate because it's a...

This place is pretty run down. Half the water activities do not function, clearly due to lack of maintenance. This place advertises water slides for bigger kids and adults, but the bigger slides suddenly closed a half hour after we got there, and then never opened again. I asked when they'd be open again as there are a bunch of people waiting, and I was told that "it's closed today". No announcement, no information, no additional reason. Just closed. There is a huge bucket that dumps a wave of water on everyone. However, the bucket usually has a bell of some sort that warns people so that small children don't get taken out by a torrent of water. Said bell was there, but broken, and needless to say, many of the smaller kids and their parents were not happy with them being taken out by a sudden and seemingly random deluge of water.

Also, if should be known that, while connected to the hotel, this seems to be a separate business. When you stay at the hotel, you get 2 free passes to the park, which is not enough for a family of almost any size. It's $16 bucks for each person over 3 years old. So you stay at a hotel/water park and have to pay to use the water park. And there are no spectator passes, so even non-swimming parents and grandparents have to pay. Also, the park opens an hour before checkout time, so it's not like you can come the next morning and play more...

This place was an absolute blast with our kids. We had 5 kids ages 3-9 and there was something for all of them. For the water slides you need to be 48” tall which was a disappointment to my 6 year old. The indoor pool was colder than the outside for sure, but the kids didn’t care. We went 4th of July weekend and it was packed (understandably so) but we never really waited for the water slides. If you wanted to just hang out in the pool you definitely couldn’t space out very well. They have a lot of lifeguards (no labor shortage here) and have safety breaks. The lifeguards did a wonderful job of enforcing rules reasonably but also letting people have fun. Swim up bar drinks were strong and reasonably priced, and themed for the resort feel (daiquiris, pina colada etc) There also was pizza you could order from the poolside as well. Signs say that you can’t bring in your own beverages but we found that rule to not be enforced. Towels were in short supply on the racks but you can ask for them at the wristband counter when signing your waiver. We would definitely recommend improving the waiver/wristband process because the...

Winter time / offseason review: The water park itself isn’t bad. It’s probably one of the only things to do with kids during the winter time in Okoboji. My kids (ages 11 and below) had a great time and lasted maybe 2-3 hours before they lost interest. The water slides and other play areas were a lot of fun. The place was extremely crowded. If you’re looking to come out for the offseason weekend hours, be prepared for long lines for entry. We got there at exactly 4pm and waited almost an hour to get in. Couple of recommendations for the park: 1. Make the daily requirement for the waiver to be a yearly requirement. If unable to do so, legally, then allow folks to complete the waiver online before arriving. That would GREATLY reduce your line to get in 2. It could be nearly impossible to get an inter-tube for slides at times. Recommend having “slide tubes” and “lazy river tubes” so folks don’t just hang onto them when they transition from slides to lazy river.

The waterpark was run down. The indoor art was dark and dirty. Dusty everywhere. The pool floor torn up my kid's feet. The outdoor part was a little better. The lifeguards were ridiculous. One gal was flipping people off and using profanity with kids around. While on duty they were dressed in jeans, tennis shoes, and hoodies. They were more worried about gossiping with each other than watching the swimmers. My daughter was going down the tube slide with a friend, they weren't even allowed to make sure they were properly seated before the lifeguard was yelling at them to get moving. They went down, got hurt, hit their heads and almost drowned because of an impatient lifeguard. On the opposite spectrum... Jake the lifeguard was extremely patient and so nice.
