SECOND UPDATE RE: REPLY. Hello, id love an email address instead of a phone number if possibke. You're correct these photos are from our first visit. We arrived at 3 and were told my daughter had about 7 minutes to do her one coloring page. Which was not feasible. Our train ride was scheduled for 4 which didnt allow us to be able to watch a magic show and look at trains before rushing to get back. Because of how far away parking was i ,as a single mom to 2 young kids couldn't have carried 3 pumpkins back to my car. When we went into the haunted mansion at 4:26 ( when we returned from train ride) there was a man vacuuming and basically it was all taken down. We then waited in line for a balloon animal for over 35 minutes. At one point they joked that they weren't going to do any more balloons for the kids in line. My daughter immediately got sad and almost had a meltdown (she's autistic). They also popped about 5 balloons trying to attempt the color cat she wanted. The balloon pops scared her. It was a bummer as prior there hadn't been any issues I saw while making balloons for other kids in line. The candy thing was disappointing. My kids came in full costume for about 3 pieces of candy each. We trucked out in the pouring rain to the event; because our free event we were going to go to was cancelled since it was outdoors. I don't have alot of money. So when we spend that kind of money and walk away feeling sad it's a huge bummer. To top it off. Because of where I had to park on the grass ( despite they're being plenty of spaces available on the gravel.) Our tires spun in the mud and we almost didn't get out. To boot ( pun intended) my son lost his boot while we were running back to our car. Sigh. Additionally, because of the crowds we couldn't even slow down and just look at the trains. Again that would be fine if we had ample time to do more actual halloween themed things ,but unfortunately it all felt very rushed. I thought that 2 hours would be enough time. Evidently, it was not. Finally, there was miscommunication about the phrasing with prices. I assumed my 2 year old would be free. He wasn't. There was no one guiding any of the games. So we didn't know if we could play ring toss. If there was a point to it. Etc. Kids were chucking rings at my son's head ( I get it kids have alot of energy), but there wasn't any real organization to it. After all that I still had to spend 11 bucks at a grocery store afterwards so my kids could have pumpkins.
Original review: My daughter kept saying "this is the best day of my entire life!"
UPDATE do NOT do the Halloween event. You have to park way too far away. 55 dollars for 3 pieces of candy each and a balloon animal. We couldn't even grab pumpkins because we wouldn't have been able to carry them that far. We arrived with over two hour And still felt like we got to see nothing. Just a...
Read moreBeen here a few different times now, each time for a special event going on. First time was near Halloween for their pumpkin patch picking event. It was a lot of fun and very well done. We did go very first thing in the morning for that one so it wasnt super crowded on the train ride or really that crowded inside. By the time we left a few hours later the parking lot was completely full. The pumpkins were all different sizes from huge to small enough for a toddler to carry. The entire staff was helpful and awesome from inside the actual museum to outside at the pumpkin patch and on the train.
The second time I came was for their Festival of Trees. Very nice little set up, with lots of different trees sponsored by different companies and organizations around the area. All the trees were uniquely decorated with something to do with the organization sponsoring it. I think we went on a Friday/Saturday night an it really was not crowded at all. You could still look at all the trains and the museum still ran there were just a lot of really awesome trees at the same time.
All in all even if there is not a special event going on, there are a lot of cool things to see and learn. I would say its a great place for kids or adults. Kids love the huge trains as as far as I am aware they were all used at some point and nothing is fake. You can go inside most of them and see how people used to travel cross country. Really awesome. There is lots of stuff to read and videos to watch as well for the older kids/adults.
Bottom line, come visit this place if you need somewhere to take the kids. Its worth the drive from wherever...
Read moreWe attended the Polar Express and it was so incredible!! It was our first time going and I would definitely come back if we are ever able to again. I picked the Glacier Gulch level for tickets because I wanted to make sure that Santa visited our family on the train, but I didn't think we needed the commemorative coffee mug. (I also couldn't find any reviews beforehand to know how much money I should spend for the experience). I would say we had the best bang for your buck in Glacier Gulch!! The doors open 30 minutes early for the Polar Express area, but I would go earlier next time to look at the train exhibits and festival of trees that are open before the entrance. Then for the 30 minutes before it starts, you can take photos with the cast and do activities in that area. Don't miss that! They have assigned seats for the reading and hot chocolate time which is really organized and helpful. I feel like there is no bad seat in there!!! So any price level will love all of that the same! Then after that part, you walk to board the train and that was also very organized. I didn't see the fancier trains, but the Glacier Gulch was perfect. Santa came onto our train and it was so magical! Don't forget to wear your jammies!! I would suggest not bringing a stroller, backpack or winter gear really at all. Too much to keep track of and we felt like the train was warm enough. I can't wait to check out more...
