There’s not enough warning on the reviews about the weather. I took my 4 year old son on this trail. It was fun seeing the first lake and we should have not went any farther. We was doing ok but a little one can easily fall off the think trails down the steep cliff. Also wear hiking shoes not tennis shoes. At one point you will not have a trail and just have to try to get through rocks and puddles of mud and water. While I was there I see a little baby on a hikers back pack and was screaming while getting rained on. It was cold rain. The parents were doing everything they possibly could for the baby. My son was shivering all the way down the trail. He could not stop shaking. His coat was soaked so his dad had to put him inside his shirt to give him body heat and he was still shaking. We had to leave our parents at the top of the trail when it started raining (it turns into hail). We finally got my 4 year old and my 18 yr old and 24 yr old to the bottom and had to turn around and go back to get them. My kids caught the shuttle and went to the car to warm my 4 yr old up. My jacket got soaked so I had to just take it off and go back in my sleeveless shirt. My body was on adrenaline at that point so I was fine. Do not go up this hike to Craters Lake if you have any kind of hip injury , knee injury foot injury or arthritis. Be sure to wear a warm rain jacket. This trail is more for older young kids that have balance because you have to share the trail with other people going up and down. Experienced hikers even run it. I noticed most people looked very fit that were dressed correctly. Also I recommend a walking stool and one for each hand for people that don’t have good stability. Crater Lake: For the experienced hiker and a group of older people this is great. First Lake Maroon Bells Lake: Awesome for every one of all ages! I believe it’s more beautiful than...

I saw atleast 200 people in line while it was snowing and they wouldn't bring more buses to bring people back to the base of the mountain. And there is no waiting areas. THIS IS A PLACE WHERE IT SNOWS OFTEN. Absolutely ignorant management.
I would not recommend this place. When I was there, I saw families with little babies suffering through the terrible slow bus lines, with nowhere else to stand, to cover. And it was snowing.
Cars are not allowed. You have to park at the paid parking lot, 20 dollar bus ticket to get up there, but please note there will be a line to go up and also to come back down. It's sad to see how much money they are charging people for a 10 min bus ride.
They need a competitor who can do better and compete right...
