Better Living Center — Attraction in Athens

Very rude workers outside. It was bag day. If u bag 5 bags of clothes then what u pick out is free. When we arrived there were about 8 to 10 people digging around in the clothes. Some bags had been opened and once bagged they are to be placed in a crate. So while looking I heard a gentleman say "if I find out who did this u better believe they won't do it again." Matter of fact they won't be allowed to come back again, EVER!" There was not that many opened bags and had I not been with someone who knew what day it was then I wouldn't have known any better. No signs posted, no explanation from anyone. I even heard a lady ask and she was ignored. I know that some people who go there can not afford clothes at other places. So I felt the rude gentleman with the dolly was rude, out of line and his statement was uncalled for. I decided that if his lack of compassion and his people skills were that bad and his patience with others was non existing then I would no longer burden him with my donations of clothes ,household items and monetary gifts. I would just taken mine to the teen challenge bins...

This used to be the cheapest place to buy clothes. Period. However now that it is three dollars a pound the deals are not much of a deal anymore. Heck, in any other thrift store l could go to buy jeans, find them sorted and neat according to gender and size, and bring it home for two dollars. Here they don't even bother to sort the clothes, they are just brought out in huge boxes and everyone digs in hopes of finding something they like. I didn't mind back when it was super cheap but my husband's jeans are over 5 pounds. Not...

Great place....I recommend it to everyone. The staff are super friendly and nice and extremely helpful. They have a variety of good quality second hand items. All marked at a reasonable price. They also have different specials they run each week. Unfortunately they are only open on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is also a spot behind the building where they have furniture and other odd items marked at priced at a low reasonable price. And I believe they run a food bank on Tuesdays to help...
