Terrible experience with the campus tour both for the sciences building and the regular tour staff. My husband, my child the prospective student, and myself were completely turned off... And by the way i don't know where all the school spirit was hiding but between the students and faculty who didn't know where anything was except their next step in front of them and the so called tour guide who kept hinting about not bothering with the tour if unable to find parking fast enough (instead of taking me to it) because the shift was ending in about 45 minutes, it is clear these people are only in it for the minimum effort required and either so not associate with other majors or are seriously cliquey because how is it middle of March and even if you are in one of the science buildings you can't help me find the main one?
Why is a visitor having to chase down help all over the place to even find the tour guides in the first place when tours were scheduled? You should have people out front and center to greet scheduled guests and why are the people in the campus tours office when you finally find it far in the corner of the 2nd floor with hardly any signage visible from the main, glued so hard to their seats that they think having you a map is the solution when you obviously showed up to be guided in person. If i wanted to fumble around with a nap i could have stayed home and done the virtual tour. Worst tour of the entire campus touring experience and safe to say they are focused on people who know the school already and have zero work ethic nor customer service nor even basic school spirit whatever. All the hype I heard about "Roll Tide"... looks like the tide went out and washed the sense and the soul of this place out to sea with it.
With all that negativity from the staff and students just to try and get settled for the science buildings tour, none of us wanted to stick around for the main campus tour. We drove out there in the middle of a work week to a frosty lazy approach to the new students. Or I guess they will treat the ones that are part of their clique or fandom better... If you are just looking for the right educational experience without American college football shaped blinders on, you will bypass this one. If they are treating us like this before we even tour, imagine how my child would be treated after enrollment if ever needing help the staff should be providing? No thank you. Only good thing came out of this tour was discovering The Breezeway restaurant in nearby Opelika, which provided what the university should have: excellent food and drinks, excellent customer service and Southern hospitality, and excellent value for the money! If not for that restaurant this trip would have been a complete waste of our time off work and the gas we spent to get...
Read moreAuburn University. What a name! Such a name carries power, intelligence, sophistication, and dignity. This historic college campus, established in 1856, is absolutely beautiful. The staff and facilities manage the campus splendidly, and they have also created a pleasant learning environment for students far and wide to attend. The university has a plethora of major and minor field of study choices available for anyone who interested. The campus has plentiful housing, both dormitories and frat and sorority housing. The college has also allowed for different franchises to open restraumts within the university campus. These stores are popular hangouts for students who need a quick bite between classes or a late night snack before exams. Auburn University offers many different sports activities as well, ranging from swimming to basketball and everything in between. Perhaps the pinnacle of the sports program is the football team, the Auburn Tigers, who play in the SEC each year against such famous rival colleges as Alabama and LSU. Auburn has had success in the football program, much of which is due to super-star athletes like Bo Jackson and Cam Newton, both who won Heisman trophies during their college football careers. With a fabulous location, spectacular facilities, broad fields of study, and activities that are sure to keep students occupied, Auburn University is a excellent choice for a institution of higher learning. If you are looking for a degree from a university in Eastern-central Alabama that will be respected by your peers for decades to come, consider Auburn University; they would love...
Read moreI graduated from Auburn in 2011. I first moved to Auburn for a job (of all things) and at first I made fun of the "Auburn Family" pride. I texted friends back home in a different state pictures of all the Auburn stuff everywhere thinking it was ridiculous... I thought it was downright silly that every single store in the town had some form of a shrine to Auburn in goods and t-shirts. Every car has a magnet/sticker/license plate (and/or frame), or all of the above. People wear Auburn shirts every day. It is a total way of life. Then after a year I left the job, went to Auburn to finish my degree, and after about 6 months I finally "got it" and realized that the camaraderie you get from attending Auburn and participating in events sponsored by Auburn, it really does create a family feel that lasts long after you leave. I was once in Cambridge, England and a FedEx pilot yelled "War Eagle" to me. He had attended Auburn's flight program and loved it. "War Eagle" becomes a hello between people of the same Auburn Family no matter where you go in the world. I had excellent academic experience, awesome professors, beautiful buildings, good food options, great and helpful staff. One word of warning - Auburn will totally spoil you. I go to graduate school at a small private university now and I really miss Auburn and all the perks of such a huge, diverse,...
