I recently had the pleasure of working with the Best Austin Handyman team and, cheesiness aside, I believe I found the BEST in Austin. Our hot water heater exploded and it sits in an elevated closet with our AC. It was a mess of a job. Other local companies either declined the work or wanted to charge to give me a quote. That's not the way Barrett and his team rolls though. Not only did he come out himself to determine the level of work needed but he did so with top notch customer service, a great attitude and provided a very reasonable quote. He even taught us a couple of tricks about our AC and garage door while he was there. The professionalism and kindness of the team was steadfast when they came out to do the work. When they opened the wall and found mold, it was an obvious game changer. He communicated with us with concern and care as we worked through the steps needed to remediate the space and complete the work. The team went above and beyond on multiple occasions including resealing my AC which was beyond the scope of work. Overall, they made a nightmare scenario manageable and fairly stress free. Sam and the contractors are all very kind to work with and respectful and trying to get the best result for you. I had direct contact access to my project lead and was able to get responses promptly if I wanted to check on the timeline or needed something changed.

I got my quotes in writing and always asked for pricing for a change order before executing it - that way, there are no surprises later! Don't forget; you get what you pay for. I have had numerous neighbors with contractors who take their money and run. Best Austin Handyman is insured, and that made me feel much better about asking them to do some serious work in my home. I am willing to pay a little more for that peace of mind.

If I was ever dissatisfied with work that was done, I felt comfortable letting my lead and contractors know, and they did everything in their power to fix it. This is huge for me. You speak up, and you are heard and action is taken.

If I could give less than one star I would. These guys started "repairing" my deck in May! It's not quality work: uneven, nails already splitting wood, exposed tarp; it's not even finished, my yard is trashed, and they aren't returning our calls or texts anymore. They've been MIA for 3 whole weeks! Hello Barrett???? Nick???? At least be a man and admit ur never coming back to finish the awful job.

In response to owner’s reply: It took almost 8 months for my deck to be replaced. It was never a repair job. For over 3 months I couldn’t get in touch with anyone. Then when I did, you asked for thousands of dollars more. I had to create a walkway from planks you guys left in my yard to make a walkway out my backdoor for myself, pets, and my small child because I was left with a 3ft drop out my backdoor.
