I have been horseback riding at this park for many years. Fantastic equestrian trails with miles and miles of riding through tree covered, shady trails providing protection from the Texas summer sun. All trails are packed dirt. No rocks so horses need neither shoes nor boots. A couple of creek crossings give horses a chance to water. Part of the park is in a flood plain so if there was been heavy rain there will be lots of flood debris. Also, even a small amount of rain will cause the creek crossings to be hard -- going up and down is very slippery and muddy. The creek is usually on a few inches deep most of the year. Trails are maintained by a couple of local groups so they get mowed and cleaned. No charge to ride here and no check in. There is an informal equestrian parking area (Wild Onion Dr.) at Trailhead #2. Trailhead #1 (Onion Creek Dr) is the Dog Park Path entrance. With the construction temporary done on the Nature Center there is a Trailhead #3 off Thraxton Rd. and Nuckols Crossing.

This park can be very beautiful although at times the water is murky and uninspiring. Most of the time, though the water is fantastic with river rocks you can go along and only a few short spaces with slick limestone where you need to be really careful. Beware! There are packs of dogs and many of them have no recall. Ensure that you have excellent command of your horses prior to going. Some of these dogs traveling packs and belong in encampment of people who stay out in the woods so you do need to be on point.

Lots of dogs and people walking. Very active and enjoyable place. About 20 parking spaces. There’s a gravel trail that goes around the park and then there are other trails that other people have explored. My son took me on one of the other trails. It was getting close to dark so we didn’t walk far. There are no lights in the parking lot out near the trails. No mile markers either that I noticed. Recommend to come anytime during daylight hours.

What a beautiful park they are still working on it and have some amazing plans for it. We came out for movies in the park. I didn't even know it was out there. We lived back in that area and used to bike ride the back roads. It was nice to see how much has its changed. It was nice to see they used some of that beauty for a park. My grandson definitely enjoyed some of the games they had for them to play while out there. They had port a potties out there that were nice and clean still. We didn't get a chance to adventure much since we got there at dusk. We have plans to go back for another movie in the park next month. I am looking forward to the future plans they have...

Great, off-the-beaten-path trail for hikers/walkers. The trail itself is really interesting, although I had to use google maps to figure out the entry point. If you go after strong rains the paths may be a bit overgrown as the back trails aren't highly trafficked. But the scenery is really beautiful, lots of high grass fields and then hills with tiny ponds, just magical. You do have to cross a creek which is a little tricky if you don't want to get wet. I noticed it was a VERY dog friendly park, tons of dogs and owners running about. Hope everyone enjoys it and I'll be a little sad to see it developed once the master plans are worked up because as it is, its like...
