Great free spot to hike/run/walk and swim. Dogs are allowed, be aware that the rocks do get hot so it might hurt their paws. Depending on Texas weather, this place can be in a drought, or full of water. When it is full of water it’s really pretty and water is cold - the water feels amazing in Texas 90-108F weather.

Parking: there’s no spot, but you park along the highway, I recommend you try to park under shade but if no shade be prepared to come back to a blazing hot car during summer.

Kids: it is not ideal to take a stroller for babies, but a baby carrier/wrap would be best. It is rocky and a little bit of a trek. Make the kids who are going to walk wear tennis shoes and water shoes for the water (there are rocks). THERE ARE NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS.

Coolers: Always better to pack light, but coolers are allowed, and if you have a big one, you are warned of the trek (0.5 miles) that goes slightly uphill and downhill. But that shouldn’t discourage you if you plan on drinking, eating and swimming there for a good portion of the day.

Music: People do play music here with their speakers and sometimes you’ll have a few try to be louder than the others, and yes, expect certain genres that will have explicit lyrics because college kids and young adults do come here too.

Dogs: If your dog is not trained, keep em on a leash. Most dogs are able to run free and get in the water, as usual pick up after your dogs.

Restrooms: THERE ARE NONE. Be fully prepared plan your trips to go to nearest store. For number 1 guys are fortunate and can pee just anywhere and for girls i recommend the she wee (or pee device)

Swimming: i recommend water shoes for the water, because there are rocks in water. There is a little cliff you can jump off of if you want to jump in from a couple of feet high. It does get packed during summer season, even if you get there early it...

This is a beautiful walk in the spring when the water is flowing. In March, before everything is leafed out you get to see more of the Creek while you are walking. The first part of the walk is downhill, but not difficult to traverse, until you get to the riverbed area, and it is basically flat after that all the way to sculpture falls. The walk to twin falls only takes about 20 minutes. It is definitely worth it to keep going to sculpture falls. I would say its approximately an hour total (each way), if you are going slow and stopping a lot. Neither of these are actually "waterfalls" - I would consider them to be rapids- but the water is flowing over the rocks in beautiful formations in these areas, and is definitely worth the walk. Between the 2 "falls" you will pass two massive live Oak trees on your right that are really something to see. There are also pretty limestone outcroppings. I lived in Austin for 12 years and never took this hike. I wish I had known about this beautiful place when I lived here. Note that when you are heading back to the parking area the trail splits in a not very noticeable way and you can accidentally keep going straight (as I did), and miss the upward climb to the parking area. There is a little marker with a left pointing arrow there - look for it! Another hiker told me that you can enter this trail at the "twin falls" marker on google maps where MoPac and 360 merge, as I did - or you can start at the other end - off of loop 360. There is a parking area where Scottish Woods Trail comes to a T intersection. I am going to try that half of...

I really enjoy the entire green belt. I try and bike it every week depending on soil saturation. Hiking won't matter the weather, but if you're planning on biking, be sure to go on dry days. There are a lot of rocky paths that become slick when wet and traction is a real issue with tires. Gorgeous scenic paths next to the "creek" (I consider it a river because of flow and width of creek, to each their own) with plenty of scenic photo opportunities.

I find it awesome to go here during the summer because if you get hot or overheat on the trails, you can just take a dip in the river to cool off at any point of your hike/biking sortie.

Very popular attraction for not only locals but tourists as well. It can become congested during the summer and hotter part of spring so prepare for stop and go on trail riding to yield for hikers. People are usually really good about yielding for bikes so you dont lose momentum but some aren't so...

So I was actually really excited about coming to swim and hike here BUT we never got to. When we arrive and parked we were amazed at the glass littering the parking lot. It’s not an exaggeration to say that in every single spot you could park there was glass in some quantity. Well we got online to check review to ensure we would find water on the hike (and later heard that the drought had dried it up pretty well) and to see what all the glass was about. Peoples’ reviews confirmed our fears about people breaking into cars and we left, deciding not to risk it. As we were driving away, we passed a man walking along the highway and away from the parking lot carrying a woman’s purse. We made a judgment call and felt we should err on the side of caution and call the cops so they could investigate a little further. We never found out what happened but it certainly spooked us. I think it’s best to caution people about coming to this trailhead.

Beautiful spot. Easy hike for the kids. Great swimming. This was the kids favorite spot on our trip. Our car window and the car next to us were smashed in when we got back. Don’t leave valuables in the car. One year later… I changed mine to 4 stars because the second time we came out we still saw shattered windows when we came back out. We met someone coming out of the trail that said the water was dried up due to the drought and within 5 minutes of walking for a bit, hearing that, and turning around back to the car, windows were smashed. Someone said the saw them running back into the woods. Our windows weren’t smashed this time, but this seems this is a common occurrence. There’s a police camera there now but that didn’t make a difference.
