If you’re looking for a good, quiet, fishing spot this isn’t it. This was my first time going here to fish and right off the bat, there were a lot of people who lacked social grace/fishing etiquette. People swimming and splashing (grown adults not children) just feet away from where I threw a line out. There were people (including young children)literally bathing with shampoo/soap, naked, right at the shoreline just feet away from us.. it was quite disturbing. Definitely not something my family and I want to see. There was one point where a man undressed down to his boxer briefs to swim right in front of my 4 young children. Totally inappropriate. Boats coming close up the shoreline/bank right where we were fishing. There was also a ton of trash/litter in and out of the water (I had to remove a plastic bag from the water and throw away at least 30 bottle caps).
This park/lake could be great, but only if the rules and regulations are strictly enforced. Mainly being zero tolerance for littering and nudity/indecent exposure.. as in, anyone swimming should be covered/wearing proper swim attire- swim trunks rather than boxer briefs, swim suit or clothing that covers private parts.. I’m not a prude, but there are already designated nude “beaches” here in Austin. Not to mention, soap and shampoo has a negative impact on our wildlife. Basically this place is a mess.. I really hope this place gets better monitoring because like I said, it could be a great...
Read moreI visited Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park in Austin, Texas, and it was an absolutely serene experience. The park is a hidden gem, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The first thing that caught my attention was the calm and picturesque lake, reflecting the clear skies and surrounded by lush greenery. It’s an ideal spot to unwind, whether you’re alone or with loved ones.
The park provides ample space for outdoor activities like picnicking, fishing, kayaking, or simply relaxing by the water. The well-maintained trails are great for walking or jogging, offering stunning views of the lake at every turn. There are plenty of shaded areas, making it perfect for a peaceful family outing or a casual gathering with friends.
One of the highlights of the park is the diversity of wildlife; spotting birds and enjoying the natural sounds added to the charm. The atmosphere was tranquil, with a gentle breeze carrying the scent of fresh grass and water. It’s also a great place for photographers, offering countless scenic spots.
Overall, Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, families, and anyone seeking relaxation. It’s a reminder of how beautiful and calming...
