This is a comprehensive review, so read on if you need details from one RVers very objective perspective. We stayed at campsite 155, dates 11/15-17/2019. With only a handful of RV parks close to Austin, I would be inclined to give others a try before this one. However, if nothing else was available, this campground is fine.
GOOD/GREAT Very friendly staff that seems to appreciate you as a guest. One guy stopped several times just to say hi and shoot the breeze. Some dislikes about the staff though below. Fire Pits at most of the sites are well maintained. Excellent, clean, operational(when accessible-see below) hookups are probably the best I’ve ever seen. Clean, quiet, and peaceful campground and neighbors were all very friendly. Many long term residents. Very dog friendly. Large leash free dog park and walking areas in general. Dog waste stations are well stocked and clean.
NEUTRAL Roads are in pretty bad shape and dusty. They let you know that this was a pavement job gone wrong and I don’t fault them for that. However, it does cause your campsite, rugs, and floors to get dirtier than usual. There is a music venue nearby that you can sometimes hear until 12:30-1:00AM on weekends. We were not bothered by this, but worth noting. Staff confirmed this. We could not pre-select our campsite once it was reserved. This may be a company website issue/policy
BAD Our site and many others are not level. Ours was about 20 degrees off. Bring leveling blocks as you will likely need them. Seems for what you pay, you should definitely expect a level pad. Some of the sewer hookups are terribly placed(too far from the pad), so either bring PLENTY of sewer hose or dump at the end of your stay. We could not hook up ours due to the distance. I mentioned it upon check in and it was glossed over by the lady at the front desk. Seems they are keenly aware of this, especially since they have tons of sewer hose kits for sale in the office. When fires are allowed, their rules say no outside firewood. OK but they charge $6 a bundle. Huh? That comes off as a money grab as far as I’m concerned. We burned our own wood anyway since others had their own too. Stupid policy. We arrived late and a staff member met us at our site. I understand he just wanted to validate we had a reservation, but do that and leave us alone. I guess he meant well, but seemed kind of creepy. He was driving around his golf cart literally all day the next day and I don’t know why. Is this a high crime area or something? Can’t think of a place we have been to where the checkout time is 11AM. This was our first KOA visit so maybe it’s company policy? Either way, why not the customary 12PM?...
Read moreWe stayed for 4 days and 3 nights and had a great time. We opted for one of the premium deluxe sites, and if you can afford to I would highly recommend you also do the same. These sites are very close to the pool which make them convenient and also come with a nice grill and patio furniture set as well as a firepit. The staff was very friendly and helpful, it was refreshing to see such high quality of service. The park store is very well stocked, expensive of course but I think that is to be expected. We didn't have any issues with mosquitos which was also nice as it was mid-summer after lots of heavy rains. The only thing that could have been handled a little better is that they seemed to have run out of chemical to treat the pool during the weekend and it took them a day to get the chemicals delivered. There were some grumpy people (not us but gripes were heard when the pool did open amongst other campers). The bathrooms were very nice (although we didn't use them we did check them out). The laundry facility was nice, also unused but looked nice. Everything about the park was well managed and kept nice and neat. It was also very peaceful, not a ton of noise happening. Much more peaceful than I expected actually, I think I was the only one who turned on the exterior speakers (at a reasonable volume of course) during our entire stay. That might not always be the case, and who knows maybe they have rules against this and I just wasn't aware, but I figure if you keep stuff to a reasonable level and it's not offensive language and such that it shouldn't be a problem. Water pressure was good. Septic system didn't give us any issues. Didn't use the wifi. Oh, one last thing, which may or may not be regular, but one of the adjoining land owners (on the other side of the road) like to discharge firearms and fireworks. I understand the fireworks as it's near Independence Day, and hey...firearms are fine with me as well when it's your land and you are observing safe practices, just in case there is anyone who might have animals or people in their group that might take issue with that. For us it was a non-issue but I know a lot of folks don't care for that. To be honest, it was like maybe a couple of rounds fired each day, nothing crazy, and again..fireworks will be super seasonal and probably something you'll see at a lot of places and nothing the management or owners could...
Read moreThis was a very nice campground, quiet and off the main thoroughfare (not too far), well worth the stay! All the facilities are brand new, they have a small but super nice pool centrally located for all the kids and a really nice playground area right next door. The bathroom and shower facilities are the nicest we've experienced and we travel all over the country staying with many KOA sites. The restroom/shower facilities are spacious, air conditioned and handicap accessible. They have a centrally located deck just outside the restrooms/showers with a community smoker grill and a game room for the kids/adults which includes two large 50"+ flat screen tv's, board games, bag toss, nintendo wii and a really nice patio area outside with nice new patio furniture and commons area for the family. In regards to the camping facilities, they do have tent campsites which is a plus and we found out they are pouring additional funds into the campsite pads as well as paving/pouring new roads very soon, the electrical hookup area on the pad was well maintained and water hookups area very user friendly with a hook to hang your excess/loose water hose(first we've seen with this which is very nice)! The campsite pad area was very spacious with a lot of room in between campsites. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and willing to lend a helping hand every step of the way especially Homer who also upon request offered useful tips and recommendations on family friendly places to eat/visit. We also had a question about propane refill and "Yes", they've got that covered as well with a propane refill station on site for your convenience (if you come at night just leave your propane tank at the station and the staff will fill you in the morning--That's Service ☆☆☆☆☆). We only stayed here one day/night as we're off and moving to our next destination but the facilities/staff here are truly superb and top notch-5 Stars all the way around! We definitely recommend staying here and we will stay here again ourselves! Good Luck &...
