Avon Lake's Veterans' Memorial Park is a pleasant little - emphasis on "little" - public access spot to an equally small patch of Lake Erie beach. Perched on a low cliff, which offers a panoramic view of the lake, the park's one drawback is its postage-stamp size - the public area is scarce 100 yards along the cliff, with parking for only perhaps two-dozen vehicles. It does feature a large, old house that serves as city park headquarters and provides limited group meeting space in non-COVID times. It is an attractive, if tiny place, but geared mostly to residents who live close enough to walk or bike to its confines. I definitely mean would be, However on my return, over a year later it still is in terrible repair. They have never fixed the broken deck and overlook area, blaming the erosion. However, erosion happens all up and down the coast. There is a way to manage it, repair it, or remove it. But the Town has closed it's eyes to the situation, leaving the dangerous conditions there.
