This is a hidden jewel in Nash County! It is worth the stop. They have curated a broad selection of items that have a rich history in the medical field. ECU School of Medicine is now the overseeing caretaker of this nugget of history. They are open Tuesday through Friday 10-4. Minimal cost of $8.54. They have a senior and student rate. They have small group tours starting every hour. Bathrooms and picnic areas are available. They have a great little gift shop and lots of parking. It is very well marked with directional signage from Hwy 64. Annie was a fabulous tour guide. Highly Recommend!!!

We stopped at The Country Doctor museum on the way back from Wilson. It’s halfway between there and Raleigh and worth the trip. Admission isn’t too much and you get a detailed, informative tour. So many things too see! A time period herb garden with herbs physicians would use for medicine, a barn/garage that holds some pretty amazing Fords, an Iron Lung and so much more. Staff is friendly and there’s a great gift shop with a good variety of items for purchase.

Always pass by the sign on the highway on my drive to Greenville and one day finally made a plan to visit. So glad I did! Incredible museum with wonderful bits of NC specific medical history. So many well preserved artifacts and our tour guide Tyler was incredibly knowledgeable and personable! Be sure to check out the gift shop and medicinal herb garden after the tour. Would recommend to anyone in the medical field or interested in NC history!

My Grandfather and Great Grandfather were doctors so I looked forward to seeing this museum. It truly gave you a feel of the old time country doctor with a very well done tour.

From seeing how leaches were used by early doctors, to how pills were made from scratch to and how homeopathy medicine was used. Even some civil war medical tools are on display. I also enjoyed seeing the doctors buggies and classic cars including the iron lung and the story behind it.

The entrance fee and tour was only $5.00 They had a nice gift shop and with your receipt gave you got a discount for the local owned restaurant right...

This is a great little hidden gem. My wife and I have passed the sign on Hwy 264 many times and finally decided to stop today. We’re glad we did. They have a small guided tour that lasts about 45 min but it’s very interesting and informative. Our guide, Lizzy, was very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. You can tell she actually enjoys what she does here. We learned quite a few things we never knew about doctors and nurses from years gone by and boy have things changed. I highly recommend making a visit. They have a small gift...
