I visited this location a couple days ago on my return trip to Jersey from Richmond. I read about this park being blighted with stories as this being the location where quite a few unlucky individuals possibly took their last breath. I did find the park quiet, somewhat peaceful with many trails and also some open spaces for games with the kids or whatever else. There are some roads through there that do need repair,I also came across excessive debris all around most likely dumped from folks that live in the area and don't have the slightest cate or respect for mother nature. While I was there I could not shake an eerie feeling I had thinking of the articles I read. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast, I would love to thoroughly explore this location but just felt it was not in my best intrest, that being said it would in no way bring my son with me and explore as we do in the southern part of Jersey we call home. Find something else to do with your time,if you love the outdoors lik ike myself and you reside in this area, I truly feel sorry for you as it seems the majority in the area see this location as a dump and the city when they do clean up it is refilled with debris...
Read moreFor being the "largest city park in the US", my group was taken on a very short walk, way less than even 0.2-0.3 mile walk and had to stop every I don't know 30 seconds to a minute for some kind of therapeutic view of the outside. If you're into getting in with nature, its ok. I was told I was going on a nature walk, not a short therapy walk. Not their fault, I was only informed of it being a "nature walk" and told nothing else. When I hear that, i think of a walk/hike through some woods for a while. A therapy session to get in tune with nature just isn't my cup of tea. If its yours, cool. Just don't be shocked by how short of a trip your taking. For me personally 1 maybe 2 stars. So it depends on if you like getting in tune with nature type of stuff. Had some weird man made things that were made from outside materials that looked creepy. One had animal bones hanging in it. The further we got, the more it felt like some horror movie scene lol of a place that seemingly looks nice, but really is a place where a group or cult of mind washers or something would meet to worship the devil or who knows. Just very weird decorations, the few they had,...
Read moreKnown for its camping experience, plus 2 secret driveways - one leading to the city's NW District, the other leading to the Woodlawn suburb (home of US Social Security HQ and the surrounding shopping area), the Outward Bound children would LOVE to be at this park, and the University of Maryland Medical Center had took over a rehabilitation hospital for its own purposes; the ROI Center is located at the park's western edge. Overall, it's like smaller enclaves were built within the park itself, just don't get it mixed up with the even-larger Gwynns Falls Park, which is nothing but a large field of oak trees bounded to Leakin, but with streams running into the river waters making up the...
