Wish I'd read some of the reviews. The techs were nice but overall did not get a luxury spa experience for the money I paid. For the same price, I could've gone to a salon in town and gotten many more services. We wanted this as a treat before my friends' wedding, so it was me (best man), the groom, and one of our grooms"men" (a non binary friend who is more feminine looking). Very disappointed with the services provided for the price we paid. If you're used to a luxury resort spa experience, go elsewhere. Feels like Disney has been shorting us left and right.
Things to note:
-When the express manicure/pedicure says "nail care only", they MEAN it. No cuticle work, no cuticle clipping - ie did not clean up my rough skin around the cuticle. They didn't even clean under my nails. Those were the two things I needed done the most. They do not make this clear on the website. Everything they did I could do at home, and yet I paid $55 and didn't even get the cuticle clean up. Inconsistent too. My femme friend got the cuticle clean up but me & groom did not.
-The royal pedicure was okay -- did not feel like it was worth $90. Chair was super uncomfortable (very deep seat, they keep a pillow behind you to keep you forward, couldn't feel the massage chair) tech did okay but didn't make sure I was positioned comfortable before starting, and I felt like I couldn't relax. Felt like I was being rushed. The only reason this is 2 stars and not 1 is because of how attentive my tech was for the mask/massage and avoiding a recently healed bone bruise, and didn't take too much callous/skin off knowing I'd need to walk the parks, while still nicely exfoliating my skin.
The "wet room" or relaxation room are actually separate wet rooms divided by gender. Any time staff talked to me before my appointment, they mentioned "a" wet room, so we thought it was a communal area with hot tubs, steam room, etc. But our multi gender party (two guys, one femme person) couldn't spend time together. Inconsistent messaging too -- one tech said if our femme friend really wanted to join the "men's" side, they could. Then the other techs said we absolutely couldn't. What would couples who wanted to do something together do in this scenario??
When we checked out the wet rooms, you could tell they were not made equally. The men's side is smaller and not as maintained.
They started off the appt by having us choose a slice of a gem - like amethyst, which would "determine the energy of our services", and then "place them intentionally" in a small fake terrarium in the front lobby. What the hell was the point of that? Felt like a waste of time, and even the tech seemed annoyed waiting for us to do so, and ended up feeling rushed. Would rather they just start the appointment instead of something that feels superfluous to make the spa seem "unique". (The only thing unique about the spa is how little they did for the price compared to other resort spas I've been to).
I couldn't find it on the website but you get complimentary bath salts, and you can keep the (used) files/buffers they used on you during the service.
Honestly wish I could take this back. Was not worth the money spent at all. Knowing there used to be champagne and snacks makes...
Read moreWe love the spa at Grand Floridian, itâs a must do after after Princess weekend runs! Iâll start off by saying our massage therapists were not at fault, they both did a good job for the whole 15 minutes we got. We left our room in plenty of time knowing that there are road closures during race weekend, we got within probably two miles of spa and came to virtually a dead standstill, literally went 4/10 of a mile in forty minutes, we finally saw there had been an accident, nothing major but was blocking the road so we were at the mercy of traffic, two police cars were behind us and eventually both of them took the grass and turned their vehicles around to get out of the mess, if we could see what had happened I feel like they could too but I donât address that. Long story short, called the spa as soon as the opened at 9, told them what happened, got there almost thirty minutes late, went in, rushed us to a room, never mentioned that weâd be deducted that time, and I do understand other people have appointments but had I know I was getting a 15 minute treatment I would not have bothered getting undressed for that, anyway I explained again what happened stating we even took pictures of what happened and the spa manager gave us a whopping 20% discount, which is added in for gratuity anyway so $180 for literally 15 minutes! Iâm not one to complain but this is absurd, if it were our fault I would totally understand but outside of abandoning car and heading there on foot not sure what we could have done. Did ask for someone at GF resort to speak with and once I said I wasnât a guest there I got a card with an email address on to lodge a complaint. Very...
Read moreI made an appointment for myself, my sons and their fiancĂ©es prior to our visit to WDW. It was to be a birthday treat to myself, and engagement prep(one proposal was to happen during our trip). Since they said they only had so many nail techs on, our appointments were staggered out. Everyone was to have a deluxe mani/pedi service, but since we were coming in from different parks, three of us arrived first and I asked since it was all the same services, could I and the two present with me go first, the last 2 people were not far behind and would arrive in time for the last two times we had scheduled. The staff said that was no problem, and we were escorted to the back waiting/relaxation roomâŠwhere I entered up waiting for an hour. Called my son who was coming to the later appointment, he said they had arrived and not even been escorted to the back with refreshments/robe change like the first of us were. They said they didnât have the time to do all that for them and pretty much rushed their services, and I wasnât even up there yet. When the tech overheard their convo, suddenly someone appeared to escort me to have my mani(oh and I canceled my pedi bc i ended up with a huge blister that I felt would be aggravated by a pedi). He told me that the minute he said, â OMG are you still back there? Calm downâŠâ thatâs the tech rushed out to get me. $700+ for subpar treatment. Also, all our polish started chipping immediately afterwards Donât waste your time or money. They gave me five tiny packets of bath salts to âapologizeââŠI get spectacular service from my usual nail tech at home who goes by appointment only. If there were zero stars I...
