This place was a life saver. Seriously. We were almost out of gas thinking we could make it through. The heat was intense and we had to run with the heat on and windows open several times to prevent the car from overheating. Was touch and go for a while. It wasn't the basin, it was the elevations that got us, having to push uphill was the worse. The Ranger station had a gas station and store for cold drinks and restrooms. There were also maps that were useful that showed the smaller roads and gave better descriptions then the generic ones. ...
