Some of the worst food I've eaten in a national park. If it was just one meal, I'd understand getting an off meal. But, it was multiple meals -- and I'm not generally picky.
I typically try to be humorous or sarcastic in my Google reviews, but the problem is that with this place I just can't. It is bad. The service was slow. The couple sitting next to us was begging to get out of there. I'm not joking. They were begging. Over 45 minutes for them. Between the time the server dropped off our check and their check and came back, it took so long that the woman had to go looking for him. It's like he just didn't care. He seemed like a nice person --clueless about the service industry -- but nice. It was really hard to tip him. My buddy wanted to leave $1. I ended up leaving 10% which is the minimum I'd leave.
The problem is that this is in a national park and it is the only option without driving thirty minutes. It is suppose the represent our national idea of national parks -- the crown jewel of our American achievements -- our original idea that the parks shouldn't just belong to the rich but to all of us. But, this place failed. Not only was the food terrible -- we also saw another table send food back -- but it was overpriced. This isn't the type of establishment that should be representing us in our parks -- it is as far from a crown jewel as it could be.
They need to fix this issue.
Note: okay beer selection of you aren't used to great craft brew sections, you might think it great. They had one of my favs. Added a star...
Read moreLower your expectations and then aim a bit lower. Rooms are OK and fine for the area. They are clean and basic/rustic. The beds aren’t the worst but pretty uncomfortable for more then a day or two.
The restaurant is very basic fare not done all that well. On weekends they have the smoker out and some specials made there but avoid them and the salads. At least the bar makes good cocktails.
Don’t expect good customer service anywhere in this park outside the rangers. The concept hasn’t arrived yet. Gave one star b/c it’s Death Valley and the area is gorgeous so worth the...
Read moreWe loved this unexpected place with great food and service. I had the Cheeseburger with Fries and it was well portioned, served hot and juicy. My wife had the Chicken Wrap that was very large and delicious with Fries. The Fries were cooked perfectly with a slight crisp outside and tender inside served hot. The service was excellent and the server made recommendations. The atmosphere was welcoming and cool after a day of exploring and sightseeing in temperatures of 113F. The food was way better than expected and certainly worthy of a return visit on...
