I have come to barefoot farms several times growing up and recently heard that they may carry the yellow watermelons I had been looking for. When I went last week, I unfortunately was waiting on my debit card in the mail & they did not accept apple pay. The woman there was nice enough to give me the watermelons for free. Being that they were so kind to me- I made sure to come back this week to purchase a few watermelons with cash. However, this time, I was not treated with the same kindness. When I asked the same woman if the yellow watermelons were still here, she told me I needed to “ask him”, although it would have been a quick yes or no. But, no big deal. After waiting for the gentleman to finish with his other customers, I asked my question & he simply pointed them out. I grabbed a couple but then remembered to ask if they were seeded as that is what I prefer. From that point, he began giving me a cold look like I asked a silly question & giving me a very different tone. I still grabbed two & then asked again for clarity if these weren’t seeded because I got some last week that were. He replied “These AREN’T seeded. I KNOW what i planted. We do seeded red & yellow and seedless red & yellow.” But this was all said with an attitude and a lot of huffing and puffing. I was honestly embarrassed because I had brought a guest and was just bragging about the watermelons I got before. Also, while I was shopping, the woman asked my friend if he got the yellow watermelon & told him “Don’t give her any”. All in all- I bought three watermelons due to the fact that I had been given three the week prior. BUT, I will most certainly not be coming back. Instead I’ll travel 30 minutes out to Back to Nature in Bluffton, where Mrs. Lyn, the owner, doesn’t mind answering questions about her...
Read moreWent to this produce stand as some friends use them. They are NOT SERVICE ANIMAL FRIENDLY. Lady at register had a fit when I arrived to purchase some tomatoes. Basically told be to get out. She did take my money though. A person I met on site offered to escort my K9 off the tarp while I was trying to deal with this lunatic.
I informed the cashier that Federal law allowed me and my service animal to be there. She then threatened to call the Sheriff. If it wasn't so dam hot and late in the afternoon, I would have waited for Beaufort's finest. I went to the Sherriffs department later and they informed me I could file a complaint or I could ask for an escorts next time I wanted to go. Well there will be NO NEXT TIME VISIT.
She banned me from returning, She's wrong again, she hasn't filed paperwork at the Sheriff's office to actually prohibit me from being on that property. Again, ignorance.
I'm not supporting this local business ever again.
Arrogant and rude above all.
When I showed the lady proof, she raised her voice and told me "I don't want to see that, I don't care about that"
So I will say to the rude, ignorant cashier. Learn the law and quit throwing threats at people when you haven't got a clue to what the law states.
I do not recommend using...
Read moreAfter two days of downpours, I came out at the first sign of sunshine to find some local collards for my Christmas meal. The kind gentleman at Barefoot Farms had just opened up. There were several people ahead of me also wanting greens. Instead of making me wait, he allowed me into his fields to pick my own. Every leaf was absolutely beautiful and I'm sure they will be delicious...
