As a proud alumni of SNHDT, I can’t imagine what my life would've been like without this special studio. The exceptional training, nurturing instructors, lifelong friends, and exposure to the broader arts world that I got from SNHDT led to some of the most enriching, fun, and meaningful moments in my adolescence and young /early adult life.
I began my training with Trisha at age 7 and attended SNHDT from age 11-18 when it first opened. I later became a professional Broadway, ballet dancer and educator in NYC, and I felt extremely equipped for a professional dance career in one of the most competitive cities in the world as a result of my time at SNHDT. I am now a mom who greatly prioritizes high quality education in a loving and supportive environment for my children. If I lived in New England I would no doubt enroll my children here.
I can attest the training you receive at SNHDT is top-tier, versatile, and allows for creative expression and a deep love and connection to the arts whether or not you decide to pursue dance professionally or collegiately. SNHDT has a strong and established reputation nationally which provides opportunities you wouldn't normally get at a studio in this area. This is a testament to Trisha and how loved and well-respected she continues to be in the dance world, resulting in exclusive invitations and the ability to attract the most impeccable teachers/guest artists/human beings.
The studio will fully prepare you for a career in dance should you choose. However, the transferable skills I received from a high quality dance/performance studio like SNHDT extended well beyond the dance industry for me. I later had a career on Wall Street which I don’t believe would have happened without the self-confidence and courage my training and the SNHDT community provided. Many of my classmates/friends from SNHDT became accomplished professionals in the fields of technology, physical sciences, medicine, fashion, finance, law, etc and also happen to be some of the most kind, admirable, and considerate people you could meet.
At SNHDT you will get quality training that is nationally recognized, a supportive tight-knit community, access to mentorship from its global network of accomplished alumni, dancers, teachers, and directors, and one of the most enriching experiences you could hope for yourself...
Read moreSouthern New Hampshire Dance Theater is an amazing dance studio with the most caring, professional, and talented instructors. There are a great variety of different styles of dance classes offered, and the growth potential of all dancers is impressive. As the dancers progress there is an option to audition to be part of the pre professional youth ballet performing company. My daughter has been dancing at SNHDT since the age of 4 and I can’t say enough about her development as a dancer. Since the age of 8, my daughter has been dancing in the youth ballet company and Miss Trish has given the dancers so many amazing opportunities as young dancers, including performing at the Palace theater, fantastic summer intensive programs with a focus on overall health while dancing, and exposure to travel to dance in the Regional Dance America program (which is a prestigious opportunity where your studio needs to meet specific criteria in order to participate) giving the dancers exposure to the best of the best professional dancers and instructors. As a former ballet dancer myself, finding a studio with very strong ballet technique and training was very important to me. Miss Trish and her staff have far surpassed all my expectations. The studio has become a second home to my daughter who has built very close and supportive friendships. If you are looking for an incredible studio for your child to start dancing at, this is the place for...
Read moreSNHDT holds a very special part of my heart and always will. I started with Southern NH Dance Theater when Miss Trish first opened the studio way back in the 1990’s! She had been my ballet teacher at another dance studio and when she decided to open SNHDT, my family (along with many others) followed her. I am forever grateful that we did because all those years, starting in ballet level 4, up until I was a senior in high school performing lead roles, gave me the ability, tools and knowledge to go on to become a professional ballet dancer. I danced for Ballet Austin, Sacramento Ballet and Nevada Ballet Theatre, among many other amazing opportunities. I am retired and have young children of my own now, but my life as a successful dancer would have never been possible if it were not for Patricia Lavoie. She continues to inspire, educate and empower young people in such a positive and effective way. And so do the rest of her amazing staff! I cannot recommend this studio enough. I was a goofy little girl from Amherst, NH and I was able to shape my future as a professional dancer (my dream!) because of my time at SNHDT. From a founding member of Southern NH Youth Ballet to a current or future dancer out there, I highly recommend training here. In fact, you can find my best friend, Miss Sallie, there teaching, coaching and choreographing there currently! With love, respect and endless gratitude, Amy Gallant...
