I came in on 8/22/2022 i had a pretty tough day and I had just got into town and had a taste for sesame seed chicken. So i stopped in and when i walked in there were 2 women behind the bar working on orders. And so I walked up to the side to show that I was there and waiting to be served. Mind you I was getting a to go order. Even when they saw me there was no “hello welcome to…” no kind of acknowledgment. I grabbed a menu to look it over in hopes that one of the women would come and provide the service, but instead a couple walks in and immediately the older woman (of the 2 from behind the bar) acknowledges them and asks them carry-out or dine in they spoke their preference and proceeded on with their dine-in experience. Immediately I became aggravated because I’ve been standing there for five minutes and had yet to be acknowledged. There were two white guys sitting at the bar and witnessed what had happened. Just as I’m about to head out the older Asian lady finally acknowledges me with a “did you have a pickup?” No greeting, no sorry for your wait. I said no and I proceed to give my order. She takes the order and as she gives me my total one of the white guys from the bar interrupts her and ask her for another drink while handing her his card to pay. And my mind went red cause I’m already feeling some type of way with how this service experience has been so far and then this guy does this and just as i finish my thought he says to her “and I want to pay for her dinner.” She was reluctant to do it she didn’t take his card right away. I was totally caught off guard cause at this point I was all in my feelings. I asked if he was sure and did he hear how much my dinner was? (which was $29 and some change just for Sesame Chicken with shrimp fried rice) And he said yes. At this point my eyes start to get watery and I thanked him for blessing me by paying for my dinner. I went and sat down and just couldn’t stop the tears from falling cause what the devil meant for bad God turned it around for my good. I was disappointed in myself cause allowed my heart to grow cold for a moment due to a woman (for whatever reason) felt like I was not good enough to treat with respect. But the gentleman that paid for my dinner allowed God to use him to remind me that regardless of how people treat you, you have to remember that when they do it to you they are doing it unto to Me. So I sat and prayed for her and my heart posture cause I was just done. But the food was great just the...
Read moreMy family has been picking up at Sun Shui for 7 years as loyal customers. Ownership or management must have changed as our last 4 experiences have been terrible. We have had 3 pick up orders missing food or just wrong what sushi is sent. The last pickup and our final time we will be going there our pick up order was ready 30 mins late.
As I waited with my 3 year old melting down due to hunger and bedtime they didn't seem to care. After 25 mins of being told it would be 5 mins as all the food was ready except the sushi to stall me they finally said the sushi bar was way behind. I saw groups of people come and go who had been waiting also. After 45 mins I was told my 5 rolls of sushi was a "large order" and that was the reason. Both the owner and front hostess simply stared at me with blank stares and zero compassion or care of how late our order was.
I waited 45 mins for the food past our pick up time. The recent loss in orders being correct is worth the warning. A staff member whp felt bad even said to me this is a common occurrence now amd they are over extending the staff ability constantly. I no longer will be a patron after 7 years due to my recent experiences and the lack of caring for long time customers.
*edit to original. Post there was clearly no concern when I brought up this issue in person last night. Wasnt Laura I know her and she is lovely. Whomever she has handling her customer service over the last 8 months (jean perhaps?) Clearly doesn't care based on my conversation last night. When Covid hit we cared so much about supporting Laura we bought $200 in GC just to help Sun Shui. Sad to see how long time regular customers are treated now based on whoever is there regularly. As per the rec I will call Laura and let her know she should be concerned with her day to day staff and what they are doing to...
Read moreVery disappointed to have to write a negative review but unfortunately have to share this experience. We ordered take out including a pu pu platter which was going to be mostly for me. I have an anaphylactic shellfish allergy and communicated this to the woman who took our order (who spoke perfect English). I asked if the seafood could be kept separate (they didn’t allow substitutions) and was assured this was no problem. I have eaten at other restaurants of all kinds and in my experience food allergies are generally taken very seriously. This has never happened in the past when ordering this type of food. We got home with our food and found that not only was the shellfish not separated, the shrimp was literally smashed in with all the other food so there was no way I could even chance eating it if I wanted to. My mother had ordered a seafood meal with sauce, and it was placed on top of the pu pu platter, which was open, and the sauce from her meal had seeped down inside the pu pu platter as well. Normally I check my order before leaving but they were extremely busy and I didn’t want to hold up other customers. For a $60 order I could eat literally nothing. All it would’ve taken was putting it in a separate bag. If you have a serious food allergy, beware...
