This is a fairly small Park in the middle of Bellingham that more people are starting to become aware of. It was founded by a former Western Washington University administrator professor who been a member of the city of Bellingham City Council. He had a son with some special needs and the garden initially provided a place for him and his friends to work is my understanding. Later on it was sold and became a special part of the Bellingham Parks system. It is definitely family friendly. At one time the statues and sculptures were changed out on a yearly basis but with covid that has changed. It is especially nice to visit in the month of April and May when the abundant azaleas and rhododendron bushes are in bloom. It does have a small parking lot adjacent, some seating areas, a public restroom, nearby access to part of the...

This is such a beautiful place, definitely what I would call a hidden gem. It is nice and quiet and you can really relax and take in the art instillations and nature. I would recommend going around Mother’s Day as it is the peak blooming time for all of the amazing rhododendron varieties planted there, but also any time of year regardless would be great! I recommend taking the time to walk every little path as some of the art is tucked away. Truly a beautiful and magical experience!!!!

Also it is not pet friendly, and to all the people who are one star bombing cause it is not pet friendly please don’t do that it is truly not helpful for most people as they are...

TIP: The entrance sign says that the park is open from 8am to Dusk every day. The city website says Dawn to Dusk everyday. A staff member who was on site during one of my many visits said they lock up at 6pm. So just be aware of this if you plan to visit during a "conflicting" time. A hidden gem, definitely worth visiting. Several of the sculptures merit a few minutes of contemplation, and the park setting is lovely. Plenty of parking, merely drive past the entrance sign that you'll see at the left side of the entrance on Balsam Lane, along the narrow driveway, to get there. There's a nice public restroom at the northwest corner of the park (not at...

In Bellingham, there is a place called Big Rock Garden Park. It's a quiet space, simple yet profound. Trees stand like silent sentinels, guarding the stillness. Amidst these, sculptures emerge, each telling a story, stark and honest in their expression. The paths, unassuming, weave through the green, leading not just through the park, but into introspection. The air, crisp and clean, carries a tranquility that seeps into your bones. Here, in this little haven, one finds a rare peace, a respite from the relentless march of time. It's a place not just seen, but felt. An unspoken understanding between man and nature.
