Nice, cozy little ice cream shed! And the ice cream wasn't half bad either. I had one scoop of vanilla and one scoop of chocolate in a cup. When I say the ice cream "wasn't half bad", you realize, of course, that it was only half good as well. And I don't know if it was a serving temperature thing, or perhaps it was just "Jeni's" mix, but you couldn't just scoop you out a spoonful because each scoop of ice cream was like trying to eat spoonfuls of caramel in that it didn't want to separate from the rest of the spoonful.
The ice cream flavor wasn't bad, but I don't know what type of "designer 3D printed made from 110% post consumer waste plastic recycled WallyWorld plastic bags organic nontoxic colorfast and safe for small children" spoons they pass out with their ice cream, but the spoon didn't fit either my wife's or my mouths. No matter how hard we tried, we could not get a good "lip lock" on the spoon as we tried to rake the ice cream off our spoons. AND the spoons didn't even fit the curvature of the paper bowls either. And as a result of not being able to scoop out the melted ice cream with my spoon, i just had to drink it from my paper bowl.
Speaking of bowls, I know, I know, the eco/enviro masses want to take plastic away from all of us, but the decision to use these particular paper bowls needs to be revisited by the decision makers for this company. No outside texture on the bowl coupled with a very small bowl "lip" area for gripping means there's about a 90% chance that you, or the ground will be wearing your tutti frutti before long.
Last "Observation"... Now I think that parents should be totally responsible for their children, if you don't watch your kids close enough to keep them from using a Yucca plant as first base, then I strongly suggest you apply for a parking permit at your local ER because you're going to be there, a lot. But when a business provides the dangerous setting for children (unsupervised or otherwise) in which to possibly hurt themselves on, that's a whole 'nuther conversation you and "Call Me Alabama" need to have. So, what am I referring to? The beautifully huge, multi level seating/ climbing area that's made out of huge (20"x20"- just guessing) wooden timbers is what I seem referring to. Play along with me for a moment. Now let's say that I'm correct and they are 20"x20"x20', if they're stacked 3 high pyramid style, then the top timber is 60" HIGH! That's FIVE FEET in the air for any kid with a working climbing gear to get up on top of and become Superman, or "King of the hill", etc. Whatever the game it's still a FIVE FOOT FALL waiting to happen, and onto a rather large stone flooring area on one side and possibly concrete on the other 3 sides. Now , would you let your child climb up a step ladder and launch themselves out into the thin air? I don't think so. So if you take your kids for ice cream here, no they won't mind you while your busy deciding flavors, paying and/or otherwise have your back to them as they climb Mount Fujiama and leap Indiana Jones style from the top of the volcano before it erupts. See ya in the ER, and please, leave the ice cream in...
Read moreI only was introduced to Jeni’s ice cream a year ago. Then I realized they had actual ice cream shops a couple months ago. This is the first time I’ve ever come to the shop and not bought it at Publix. I waited in line to get into the ice cream shop for about 10 minutes. I’ve never had to wait in a long line before for ice cream but now I know why. There are so many unique flavors it’s hard not to taste a couple of them. This visit I bought 2 pints which are $12 each, $4 more a pint than they are at Publix. I bought the Mexican hot chocolate and the pistachio macaron both were AMAZING! I’d go back here to pay $4 more per pint just to get seasonal/other flavors that are not available at the other grocery stores. The shop is clean and the employees are incredibly nice!
Jeni’s ice cream is the bees knees! You won’t be disappointed! The quality and ingredients are fantastic. No red dye 5 or yellow dye 6. I can pronounce and see all the ingredients and that’s why I pay more to make my tongue dance...
Read moreSaw the reviews and had to come here after eating a food spot close by. There is a lot of really highly rated food spots, all within walking distance, around this location.
We ordered two of the singles which is really two scoops each, so a total of four flavors. We had the brown butter almond brittle and the honey vanilla both which were REALLY good. The other two flavors we picked out were salty caramel and gooey butter cake. The salty caramel was way too salty for me but I can imagine people love it! The gooey butter cake was our favorite of the four flavors. A very creamy ice cream with a very pronounced flavor profile. A very rich flavored ice cream.
They had local sodas for sale, ice cream by the pint, as well as little mementos to purchase.
The outside seating area is really cool and inviting. Its a place you just want to sit at. Several small barstool chairs parked up to equally small tables. And a very large wooden "bench" for families or...
