This is my absolute favorite venue of all time. By a lot! I've seen a lot of shows at a lot of places in a lot of cities, and I think we can all agree that no matter how much you love a band, giant shows in huge arenas or amphitheaters are pretty horrible. There's too many people, you're too far away, and the sound is muddy garbage. Generally, a great band in a tiny bar can be pretty awesome, but it can also be an incredibly sweaty overcrowded nightmare. What you really want is The Workplay Theater - the perfect mid-sized venue that truly showcases a bands talent, energy, and nuance, where every seat in the room has a fantastic view and the sound fills the volume perfectly, letting everyone hear every nook and cranny without anyone or anything impeding the speakers from delivering crystal clear audio to your ears. Grab a seat at a table and order some drinks. Your server will stick with you and take care of you all night long so you can skip all of those trips to the bar and just enjoy the show. Don't feel like sitting around all night? Hit the floor and make the front of the stage your home base for the night. Want a little distance from the bulk of sweaty bodies? Head upstairs and relax at the balcony level for the best view in the house, where you can see everyone in the room and everything happening on stage. Just saying. Frackin'...
Read moreWe had a great time watching the battle of the bands an hour young star guitarist and vocalist. The layout of this venue has always seemed a bit uncomfortable to me. No food except for the little snack bar/coffee bar next door and it seems that the sound system is often an issue. The seating is either metal chairs at tables or a booth if you are able to get one, or standing. While the four of us were as close to the stage as we would have wanted, it cost us $175 before we had the first drink or snack. I realize that the pricing decisions are not just made by the venue. On the plus side, I felt safe and the staff was courteous and the build out/architecture of the place is pretty cool. I'm encouraged that they seem to promote local talent as well as big name entertainers. We had an opportunity to bring our own food and soft drinks, which was nice and did save us a little money. Overall it was a really good experience as we got to see the band we came to see as well as several more good local bands. We...
Read moreOur latest show and probably 4th or 5th one here in the last couple of years was last night. This venue is the best in Birmingham with some of the nicest security guards as well. Go check out the coffee shop because it's 5 stars too. Clean bathrooms, the staff and bartenders actually will carry on conversation and if they recognize you from other shows will actually remember you. Nothing needs to change other than add some more metal shows to this year here (I know Furnace Fest is coming but that's outside!) Thanks guys for being so welcoming and caring about your patrons. I especially love being able to take merch to my vehicle without holding...
