My partner and I went on a Couple's Weekend Getaway to Bisbee Arizona. Some say it's a ghost town, but others say the population moved suddenly leaving the town vacant. It's located 90 miles southeast of Tucson and nestled among the Mule Mountains, Bisbee is the picturesque county seat of historic Cochise County.
Bisbee was founded as a copper, gold, and silver mining town in 1880, and named in honor of Judge DeWitt Bisbee, one of the financial backers of the adjacent Copper Queen Mine. Bisbee is a quaint little town with a little less than 5,000 residents living there. It has made its comeback and thrives on tourism with visitors exploring its mine and staying in landmark hotels.
We went to Eerie Street which is an abandoned street in the town and looks like a ghost town. When the people had their great migration from Bisbee, everything was left as it was.
It's free for you to walk the abandoned streets and to see the town of Bisbee nearby. There's a sidewalk and it can be wheelchair accessible, but be mindful it's an old street that might not have full accessibility access.
This is an attraction that you can take your family to enjoy as well. Its very interesting to see. I haven't seen anything else like it thus far.

Read moreAs open pit mining near Lowell expanded and in the mid 20th Century, it ate most of the town, eventually leading to the abandonment of what remained, and in the remainder, time stopped. The best evidence of this is the radio station. Press your face up against the glass of the building on the curve, just before entering Lowell’s straight main drag, and you will see a dusty, time-capsule radio studio that looks like the DJ went home one day in the 1960s and no one ever came back. But Lowell has a couple of thriving businesses, the Bisbee Breakfast Club where we had lunch (see my separate review), the Lady Pickers antique store, a private gym that looked nice through the window, and some guy who does something with motorcycles. There are a couple more storefronts that may or may not be businesses. It’s hard to tell. The main drag is lined with vintage cars, a Greyhound bus, and some old trucks. A vintage police car sits outside the Police Station. Today, a group of dedicated volunteers keeps Lowell stuck in time. Donations are welcome for this worthy cause. If you visit Bisbee, be sure to visit Lowell too. YouTube’s...
Read moreErie street, in the Lowell district, of Bisbee Arizona. Located at 5000 ft above sea level. This beautiful historic district is kind of like a free outdoor museum. It has been condemned and it will soon be torn down. It is a great place to take photographs. It is also home of the Bisbee breakfast club, a restaurant that now has locations in Tucson as well.
I had a wonderful time taking photos here today. I used to live in Bisbee Arizona, and I worked for the visitor center and the chamber of commerce. I came out here for a short day drive from Sierra Vista where I live now, which is 35 mi from Bisbee.
Come and check out loyal before the state condemns it and tears it down. I really wish that the state would preserve this as a historical site it is really a...
