Great hike, but be careful. As you would expect in forests, there was poison ivy (especially on the less used trails). Make sure to be aware that there could be ticks in the forest too. Once you get out of the forest and up to the sand, you have a short walk to the sand dune, Baldy. You get a good overlook of the lake from there. In my experience today (in the middle of June), at the top of the dune we were swarmed with biting black flies that followed us until we got to the forest. It is a good trip but make sure to be cautious! Also consider if the trip is worth it for the winding drive...

Read moreAbsolutely a must see! Great trails with great views when you get out to the lake. About 1.2 miles out to Old Baldy. Fairly easy walk not much up and down till you get almost there. Then a stairway up about 50 steps. Great views of the lake and you can desend the sand dune to the lake. Also great views of frankfort and dunes toward the north. There is also a handicapped trail. Only about a half mile out with a nice deck and seating area. Views of lake and frankfort. There is no ability to go down dunes here. Dogs are welcome. Well...
