(Short version) AGGRESSIVE DOG AND OWNER WARNING. Whiteish, big, fluffy, male husky. Owner had dark skin and was wearing a blue puff jacket and carried a blue plastic tennis ball throwing stick. The dog jumped my dog and another. The owner of the aggressive dog HIT the other dog that was jumped.
I love the park. It very nice and big, but this was only my second time going there and the first time there were not as many people or dogs there. It was warmer today so I expected the crowd. What I did not expect was the big, fluffy, whiteish, husky looking dog that was very aggressive/domineering towards the other dogs, most of which were a lot smaller than him. Right as he came in he chased my 12 pound schnauzer into a corner and looked like he was about to pin him. We called for our dog and chased them and he ran away but caused my wife to fall. The owner just kept walking and never even said or done anything. We don't usually worry, our dogs are very sweet and love other dogs and people. We hope no one brings a dog that is going to purposely hurt ours and we have never had that problem until today. As we were leaving we saw the same dog attack a, smaller than him, brown dog. The owner of the big husky HIT the smaller brown dog with the sick that was in his hand! ( he carried a blue tennis ball throwing stick around the whole time) The owner of the brown dog was understandably very mad at the man for hitting his dog that was just trying to play. A woman got a video of their argument (she did not get the full story) but she did get the brown dog owner saying things he probably shouldn't have (even though I...
Read moreThis is a great park with some meadow and some wooded area. It is much better now that they've fenced off the lake so dogs can't just swim around the end of the fence. However, there is still a problem. In some areas of the new fence, it doesn't touch the ground and smaller dogs, like our beagle, just go under it and are in the area of the lake and there is no way for a person to get into this area to find them. At least we couldn't find a way to get in. I suppose we could have climbed the fence, but that didn't seem quite right.
In a few of the areas that have have the new fence, someone has put up boards buried into the ground so dogs can't go out under it in hollows in the ground, but our dog squeezed through where the new and old fences joined and then we ourselves could not get in to get her out. There might be a gate, but we didn't find it. Anyway, she did finally come back to the spot where she got out and came to us, and we got her to come out under the fence. But, this experience spoiled an otherwise perfect dog park experience. Maybe this is only an issue for people with smaller more adventurous and stubborn breeds--like...
Read moreGreat park! (Is fully fenced again now that refencing is done). This park has street parking and a newly paved parking lot with lights in the evening. Porta potties on site at multiple gate entry points. Park has 4 double gate entrances to the main dog park and 1 double gate to a smaller "small/timid" dog section. Smaller area shares a fence with main area and has a double gate entrance from one park to the other. All garbages are located outside of the gates which is alittle annoying. The area is a mix of fields and forest with many little natural paths for puppies who like to explore. Main paths are wide (over 6 ft in most areas) and are laid with wood chips. Benches and picnic tables scattered throughout the park. No pond water access anymore here as they recently refenced the boundary. Nice water area for dogs with a hose, and puddles. Walking the perimeter here is approximately. 75 mile per lap making this a great place to get some walking. Seems like a pretty popular place at times but doesn't seem crowded when there is so much space. People and dogs have been very friendly everytime I...
