3.5 stars. This is a Bloomington city park, it’s not owned or maintained by the church. We live a few blocks away and have been coming for years. The splash pad is especially good for little kids, but even my 10&12yo end up having some fun. There is also a tennis court, basketball court, a sand volleyball pit, swings, and a small and larger play set. There are also benches placed throughout the area and two picnic tables on opposite ends of the park, plus a good amount of grassy (and shady) space for blankets. The small wooded area is also good for exploring, and I’ve heard there’s a new frisbee golf course installed. The most major downside is that there is a lot of trash that gets left around, and it’s only gotten worse as the years have gone by. There are bins out by the parking lot, but apparently it’s too far to ask some people to walk. The last time we were there it looked like there had been a party that was sort of cleaned up after, and both the picnic tables were sticky and gross, it was really disappointing. The port-a-potty is generally clean, but I’ve also taken dripping wet children into the church and been told very kindly that we can use...
Read moreThis is a great little park located right by a church which made me feel that much safer visiting. It has an eco-conscious splash pad that you have to power on every 10 minutes or so (a big plus, in my opinion). We spent most of our time at the splash pad. The water collects at about an inch. There are jets that spray water, a bucket that empties when full, and a "shower" that sprinkles water. There's a playground nearby and a swing set around the corner. Unfortunately, if you bring several kids who want to play in different areas, keeping an eye on all of them will be challenging. Those two areas are mulch-laden. From what I could see, there were no BBQ pits or picnic tables nearby, just...
Read moreAll 3 boys loved the splash pad. There isn't much for the actual playground equipment but that's okay because our main reason for the outing was to use the splash pad. There were a couple baby swings, which we were super happy about, since a lot of parks we've come across don't have them. There are a few benches and picnic table, sole shady spots depending on the time you go. We find 4pm or later is a perfect time to go for...
