Nice Park. Bathrooms available. (locked during some parts of the winter). There are typically two soccer style fields available most of the year. The third field is the biggest and typically stays busy. This park has an asphalt trail that loops around a soccer field and then meanders by the creek (out and back). At the end of the asphalt trail there is a gravel trail that zig-zags up a mountain and loops at the top. hey have nest boxes out (I believe for Audubon) and most of the year they leave the field around the trail natural. At the creek I've seen people fishing and swimming (i'm not sure of the rules though for it).

Very pleasant park by the South Fork New River. The park has five tables, restroom, and two grills (haven't tried them yet). Soccer fields and large green area are available. The walk (bike or run) is relatively flat and very nice by the river, you can hear the water flowing which can help you relax and think. Very beautiful trees with great smells and shade. I have seen a few people fishing there, but I haven't researched (yet) what types of fish can you get. Wish they could put seats directly by the river and/or nice small bridges. Also, maybe organize and plant more types of flowers.

A nice clean, well kept park. Connects with the greenway, it appears. There was lots of activity with people walking their dogs, exercising, playing soccer, and fishing. We were there to fish, as well. We caught some massive rainbow trouts. One was 16” and the other was 20”! We, also, caught our limits. Nice spot for bird watching too. Enjoyed seeing red winged black birds, amongst others.

I love Brookshire Park and the Greenway! It is a wonderful place to walk, talk, run, and zone out while listening to an audiobook. Unfortunately, there's a dark side that keeps this area from reaching 5 stars. The following will speak to these issues and might keep you out of trouble:

Do not visit at night. Folks who frequent the methadone clinic roam the Greenway and sometimes Brookshire after the sun goes down. Some can be found talking to themselves, screaming, and even making meth in the creek.

Tread carefully while taking the Greenway under 421. The homeless enjoy sleeping there and as a result you'll typically find a pile of beer cans and piles of feces near the pavement. Don't touch a thing and...
