We visited on a cloudy Saturday afternoon in mid-April 2025.
There was plenty are parking sports in the parking lot. There were maybe 5 cars there total. You can walk up the trail from the parking lot and decide which way you want to go.
It is a little confusing because there are multiple trails here but we wanted to see the tunnel first so we did that and then continued clockwise around the trail. The trail in total is 1 mile according to the map and takes about 45 mins with a 20 feet elevation gain.
The trail is relatively short and quite easy. It had rained quite a bit the previous day so there were parts of the trail on the south western side that was soggy. So be a little careful. Otherwise it's a very nice hike with great views and varying terrain. It keeps it interesting for the kids. There are steps on the western side that are next to the road which has pretty nice views.
Great place to visit for a nice hike/walk. Nothing super cool that makes it stand out but for a lake trail hike it's got a little bit of everything. If we needed something to do to fill some time, might be a nice place to bring a picnic too and just hang out. Probably wouldn't visit...

There is a shelter from dangerous weather right next to the lake, and a pretty fortified square concrete tunnel halfway through the trail above the lake.
Parking and the trails are free .
Dog friendly . Dog poop bags are dispensed on the big map at the end of the parking lot.
