I grew up in Redmond and have really missed having dense woods easily accessible, until yesterday Iโve felt the need to drive at least 30 minutes out to get that feeling again living on the border of Lynnwood/Bothell now.
Iโve seen the save Shelton forest sign from the road and decided to give the trail a try with my dog and man did it turn out to be so much more than I thought it would! I thought it would be just a flat wandering short trail which it is, until it isnโt. Suddenly youโre in a legitimate forest with giant trees and ferns, a deep ravine, narrowing trail and thick vegetation.
Iโve only gone to the ravine so far but based on that Iโll say the ravine forest trail is an intense hike if youโre not a regular hiker, I highly suggest bringing water and having in mind that this might not be just a leisurely walk in the park.
The trail there from meridian is cute and maintained by the neighborhood community, I love the creativity!
Overall this place is unique to the area and a great easy escape from the...

I used to ride my dirt bike all up and down the Ravine hills,I attended Shelton view Elementary, miss Patrick was my first grade teacher there Mr. Smith Mr. Berglund Miss Dolemore and Mr Bud Cudmore and So many other memories at that elementary school, Shelton view elementary is quite similar as when I went there in the mid-70s,Iโm glad to see the Woods are still there to be enjoyed by the children and people that wish to respect it, I can recall a day when practically everybody had a dirtbike in the whole area and we would ride dirt bikes all over the city streets throughout the whole area of Queensborough and throughout the Shelton view woods, please enjoy and respect and remember thereโs people that have lots of heritage there they want to see this place for...

Hilly trails meander through this picturesque little forest. The kids will love exploring three old abandoned cars, that are totally fascinating! That being said, this trail is VERY hilly. All three of our family trips through this forest have resulted in my kids running out of gas and melting down in tears. If you're taking little ones, plan for a snack break at the top of the hill past the cars, then TURN AROUND and head back the way you came. Going all the way around the full circuit from there is way longer and hillier than the trail up to that point.
Side note, seems like an especially great trail for fitness buff trail runners and mountain bikers (there is a section with jumps and...
