Love this trail! It can definitely be a workout with steep canyon trails throughout so be prepared to wear hiking shoes or boots. The rusted out, wrecked cars are a surprise and a great place to catch your breath and really take in your surroundings. Walking sticks are recommended for anyone who needs a little extra stability. The flora and fauna are ever changing from the Leafless trees of winter to the jungle like fullness of berry brambles and vines in the summer making this an ever changing landscape so remember to take a map or a photo of the map at the trail head so you can keep your bearings and find your way back. This place makes you feel like you are far away in a deep forest until you take a turn on this winding trail and suddenly hear the playful sounds of children coming from the adjacent Shelton view Elementary, or you happen upon an unexpected neighboring backyard. Enjoy this beautiful place as they are rarer than they used to be in the midst of our urbanization. The views can be spectacular but unfortunately developers are planning a 500 unit townhouse development on the adjacent Furling‘s property which will most certainly change that view. Take it all in while you can, I hope it will transport you back in time when you picked berries and built forts in the woods as...
Read moreThis is a cool little forest hidden between neighborhoods and the FEMA complex. The trails are nicely maintained. There are areas that remain relatively flat (on the East & SE area). There are also some hilly areas which can be quite steep, especially for anyone with knee problems or walking limitations. This is such a beautiful, peaceful location; you can easily forget where you are. There are houses that back up to the forest and several of the owners have made it personal too. It's pretty cool to see. And someone has gone through & labeled the trees and bushes by painting the names on rocks all throughout the trail! It really is amazing! Great for a peaceful walk alone, with company, and great...
Read moreOur family loves going on walks through this forest. It isn't maintained by the parks department but amounts to several well-worn paths through the woods. It's quite large and wonderful to have such a peaceful place surrounded by urban landscapes. I hear the city of Bothell has plans to sell off this property for development. I hope they can understand the natural beauty that lies in this park and can find a way to...
