I had high expectations before I went and I planted this idea in my head that I would be walking through beautuful gardens filled with flowers and shrubs and the butterflies would be flying around and landing on me, this was not the case. Butterflies of Cape Cod is a very small quaint place. You walk into the gift shop and purchase your $6 ticket. Than you get a list of butterflies that they have for viewing. You than walk outside the gift shop back door and enter the backyard. Once you get outside in the backyard you follow a butterfly path and you'll see an enclosed butterfly sanctuary like structure. You go through the structures door and enter it. Inside there you'll see numerous educational postings with butterfly information on them, hanging flower pots above your head and a glass box containing pupas. The butterflies were out of reach as there's no walking through their area to go over to them. Some were hanging on to the flowers in the hanging pots above my head, some would fly over my head and in my face from the closed off section where they rest upon the screen, on top of flowers or where their fruit was placed. I spent approximately about 20 minutes taking pictures and talking to one of their employees. The employees are amazing, professional and helpful. They're very knowledgeable about butterflies and I learned things about them I never knew. Even though it's an extremely small butterfly place it's cute and quaint. I find this place great for adults and especially for children as they would learn some wonderful education about butterflies and how to respect and love all of YHWH’S (Creator/God) creatures.

My daughter and I came for the first time today. We had a great time and learned a lot! The owners are very friendly and incredible knowledgeable. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. We saw tons of butterflies and caterpillars and learned about their lifecycle, different plants they like, more about their business etc. To finish our visit we spent some time in their gift shop and my daughter and I picked out some great things. The prices are very reasonable and they have an amazing selection! Books, toys, magnets, clothes, jewelry, stickers/tattoos and more! We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely come again!

Nothing really negative to say about this place, price was good and everything,it's was just such a small place,it's an outdoors area and I was kinda finished looking at it the second i walked in,we stayed for about 15 minutes. The gift shop was cool too,the lady there was really nice and talked to us for a bit,so,overall,I had a good time,it was just a really short visit, there didn't seem to be too many butterflies either, maybe 30? 40? Which didn't seem to be much since the area was pretty big yet small so it kinda seemed like less. So,I'm not disappointed just wished it was a little bigger but oh well

What a fun find! The butterfly house was fascinating. So amazing to walk among so many different butterflies. The jewelry in the store made of butterfly wings (set in silver) is astonishingly beautiful, and I had to indulge. The shadow boxes with mounted butterflies are simply gorgeous - under the track lights the iridescence of the scales of certain butterflies really leaps out to the eye. But the proprietors are perhaps the best part of the experience. As I looked at the jewelry (my first stop), I asked questions about where the jewelry was made and where they got the wings. The proprietor knew everything about the artisan and how the wings were sourced.

After going outside to view the butterfly house (you are given a chart with a picture and description of each type of butterfly), I went back into the shop to look at the shadow boxes. My husband noticed tiny spots on the wings, which prompted me to ask the proprietor what caused this, and he very kindly and patiently explained about the scale structure underlying the wings, and that in some butterflies this structure is iridescent. He also explained the butterfly lifecycle, and I walked out of there knowing a check of a lot more about butterflies than when I walked in. If I'm in the area again on vacation I will definitely stop by again. The proprietor made me feel so welcome that I would relish going back to talk to him, and will probably buy a shadow box the next time I'm there. Thanks for the...
