It is a very nice shaded and scenic place to walk, hike,or exercise. It's kept very clean and well maintained and stays somewhat busy with a variety of folks walking and enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. To the best of my knowledge, this is a no charge area to use for recreation or exercise. I'm not overly familiar with it, but it stays busy and is well known, used, and appreciated part of the community. There is no traffic allowed or to contend with just people on foot or similar taking the opportunity to view a colorful, somewhat historical area that is so thoughtfully provided for folks to use for walking outdoors. Also, to the best of my knowledge, it is known to be a safe place to use as thus. It resides and is next to the local boat docks and park, Flippins Run, which stays very busy and is proudly maintained and offers several activities from barbecues to playground equipment for children. A nice large gazebo area and a soccer sport area with plenty of free parking and close restrooms. An undeniable gorgeous view of the Ohio River. This area is well maintained and proudly offered to folks as a historic place to relax and eat while enjoying the great view of the river, or you could possibly see a young person fishing from the banks in this very neat and clean accessible area. It's a natural and historic area that has much to offer to the community and beyond. It's much appreciated by the community and proudly well maintained by the county. It's a definite asset to the community and...

Read moreOk, I may have to rethink if I like Kentucky after this great outing. I usually think it will be too hot and the trails won't have shade and the bugs will just make it miserable, but none of those things were true today. The trail is 2.2 miles easy hiking each way, and you can easily add another two or three miles exploring the river, the Confederate Monument and the RV Park.
You will enjoy a nice wide path great for walking, running or even mountain biking. The mile markers are clearly marked in quarter mile increments in case you want to do some speedwork or intervals. You will enjoy several beautiful waterfalls and shade covered trails nearly the whole way. Also spread out along the trail are benches, tables, porta-potties, and even a swinging bench chair.
You will really enjoy yourself...
