Read more5 stars for the ice cream and 2 other guys working there, -3 stars for the third guy working.
We came here while in town for a softball tournament. There were 3 fellas working in the midst of a rush- two younger men and a mid-30âs guy who was hanging back behind the counter watching as the other two worked their tails off.
The mid-30âs guy was asked by one of the younger guys to come explain to us how the selection process worked. The request was met with apathy, which we overlooked. Our girls decided to get scooped ice cream, so one asked Parker for a cake cone and one scoop of butter pecan, which was delicious, by the way. He didnât seem to hear her and picked up a waffle cone instead. She again stated sheâd like a cake cone- but he continued scooping into the waffle cone so she just let it go and took her ice cream.
When we went to pay, the mid-30âs guy asked which flavors and which cones each person had so he could ring us up. When I explained that one of the girls asked for a cake cone but received a waffle cone, he stopped and looked me dead in the eye and asked why sheâd take the ice cream then. What was pretty insignificant then turned into a situation. While Parker was most gracious about the simple mistake likely due to the din inside during the rush, the cashier was rude. I couldnât believe this guy.
The ice cream was great and the two younger fellas were fun- joking and laughing. The other guy- he was hopefully just...
Read moreSmall town, small business. Remind yourself of that when you walk in and you will have a great experience. This is a family owned store. We got the benefit of meeting the husband and wife who own it when we stopped in. Great people. They have sons that I suspect are often working there, but had this particular Friday night off. The owners were excited to see us and eager to share the features of their shop and what makes them different from other places. I got an Oreo-Banana shake, it was good. Lots of oreo. Banana was largely at the bottom of my cup, but the flavors were throughout. It was very good. My son got and shared the snickers shake with me thoughâŠman, that one was the bomb. I get snickers blizzards at DQ a lot but this shake, somehow it was like the pieces were small enough to not be chunks and instead they were like flavor pieces waiting to be reunited in my mouth as I chewed/drank the shake. Super good. As others have said, the prices seem a bit high, but sometimes quality ingredients arenât cheap, and with the economy of today, the prices from 10 years ago are no longer a good comparison. I would suggest the prices here are similar to high-end ice cream shops in Louisville. Anyway, lots of options at this place and I would highly recommend a stop here to support a true family-owned business. Donât miss the river view while...
