During my trip to Lafayette, I knew I wanted to go on a tour of the Bayou after hearing about just how beautiful the foliage and animal life was there. I ended up calling many tour companies in the area and I chose this one for several reasons!

The most important one to me was that Louisiana Swamp Tours offers boat tours that can seat 4 people comfortably (maybe even five could squeeze) as compared to the other swamp tour companies that offer tours in boats that seat 20+ people, but for just my aunt and I, the smaller boat was the perfect option! With the smaller boat, it was way easier for our awesome tour guide, Wendy, to navigate the boat between the glorious cypress and willow trees that have lived there for hundreds of years; and because of this, we were able to get way closer to wildlife and capture AMAZING photos and videos that we definitely would never have been able to capture otherwise.

I also really liked that this tour lasted an hour long, whereas the other tours were around two hours long. For my busy schedule, this was the perfect selection for me again. Louisiana Swamp Tours is located at Lake Martin, which is around 5 miles long. One hour was the perfect amount of time to tour around the whole swamp, and stop over at least 30 times to take pictures and also talk to Wendy.

Wendy, a Cajun native herself, is an expert on the Bayou and everything that lives within it! I am not exaggerating when I say that Wendy told us about every single animal, bird, fish, insect, and plant that we came across. She could identify every single one and then tell us even more information about them. And on top of that, she was genuinely kind and caring, and she also had a contagious smile!

I HIGHlLY RECOMMEND Louisiana Swamp Tours if you want to see the most beautiful Bayou around and also have an incredible and...

My friend and I were completely blown away by our swamp tour with Wendy! If you're looking for an authentic, unforgettable Louisiana experience, this is it. From the moment we stepped into the boat on Lake Martin, we knew we were in great hands.

Wendy isn't just a guide, she’s a lifelong local with deep knowledge of the swamp, its wildlife, and its history. She brought the bayou to life with stories, facts, and a clear love for this land. We saw gators, herons, egrets, turtles, and even a baby owl nestled high in a cypress tree. Her sharp eye made sure we didn’t miss a thing. the pace of the tour was perfect, peaceful, not rushed, with plenty of time to take photos and soak in the beauty. The reflections of moss-draped trees on the water were pure magic. And because the tour was small and personal, it felt like we were exploring with a friend, not just a guide. We’ve done other tours in Louisiana, and in this area but this was hands-down the most intimate and soul-stirring one. If you're visiting Breaux Bridge or anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor—book with Wendy. This is the kind of experience that sticks with you.

Thanks, Wendy, for sharing your world with us. We’ll be talking about this day for years to come!

Miss Wendy was a wonderful guide! We called in the late morning to inquire about availability thinking we'd have to wait a while. She said she was available right then and would hold the spot for us. The tour was an hour...just perfect for our schedule before we headed back home to Texas. Her boat seats 4-5 adults perfectly, with two individual seats and a bench at the back. The bench was perfect for my husband, our two kids (2 & 7), and me. Two more could have easily joined our group. She had life vests for our kids, which they wore for the duration of the ride, and she had a variety of other vests available on the boat. Most importantly, Wendy was very knowledgeable about the habitat, wildlife, trees, and various plants. She knew where to look for alligators and even took us to a quiet spot where a mother gator was resting on her nest...it was like they were old friends. She takes cash and credit cards (without an extra charge), did not charge us for my two-year old, and provided a comfortable and informative tour, complete with cold water, binoculars, and umbrellas if they were needed. I would recommend Wendy and Louisiana Swamp Tours in a heartbeat and would happily go out with Miss Wendy again. Thank you for helping us make a great...

I had the most incredible time on the Louisiana Swamp Tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our amazing guide, Wendy! She was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly from the moment we booked the tour. Since there were flood warnings in the area, Wendy went above and beyond to send us clear directions and kept us updated, which made us feel completely taken care of. The tour itself was a perfect balance of adventure and learning. Wendy shared so much fascinating history about the lake, its wildlife, and the surrounding area. I loved learning about the local birds and the ecosystems, as she really brought the swamp to life with her insights. Of course, we were all thrilled to see a real alligator up close—it was such a highlight of the day! It was surreal to witness such a majestic creature in its natural habitat. Overall, the tour was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Wendy made it all the more special, and I feel like I walked away with a deeper appreciation for the Louisiana swamps. A must-do!
