Wish I had 10 stars to give them. The grounds are beautiful just to sit and have a lemonade and chat with a friend. I especially love, love, love the ginormous Texas buckyeye by the pond bridge...they are very large trees! The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the variety of native plants, herbs, landscaping shrubs and flowers, and, of course, roses is outstanding. But, the very best thing is that they run their business with a fairness and bias toward the customer you rarely see anymore. I purchased 2 butterflyweed that turned out to be tropical milkweed (this is a common problem in all types of plants as the wholesaler or its seed/cutting supplier can have a labeling problem and, of course, the retailer can mislabel or, more likely, customers swap the labels. So it is not a ding against Antique Rose Emporium. Rather, I was taken aback by the manager's reaction to my call to let them know the mistake. I ran a tree nursery so I realize the importance of letting them know they have a problem so they can speedily deal with it to check their stock and suppliers. Anyway, I expected nothing except a thank-you, but the manager said if I would email pics of the plants purchased 3 months ago and my receipt, she would refund my purchase...and she did in less than a week...just credited my card. You bet when I go visit my friends in Chappell Hill, I will be venturing up to Antique Rose Emporium more often and supporting them because they stand behind what...
Read moreMy roses were FedExd overnight the last ship by deadline, poorly packed, without obvious LIVE PLANT stamp on the box. Fed ex through my box on the porch upside down. Upon opening the box I recieved terrible plants. Each gallon container had twigs with yellow abd black spotted leaves, and no sign of new growth. At around 8am the following morning, I planted my sorry sticks and figured they would take off like the previous three. Still not a thing. While I was waiting for my roses, the species that I bought went out of stock, so I probably got clearance or bottom of the barrel stock, and what I received was not acceptable and I'm very disappointed. Long time customer, very sad! I have communicated with them, but it takes a while for them to respond to emails, their customer service is unacceptable! Update: I came back to update this review, My roses are doing well, buy after reviewing the response, I have descided to leave my current rating. It took days to get any response, I did provide multiple photos through email and on Facebook page. Too much time spent on social media and not enough time assisting customers, failing to ship orders in a timely matter. I would still recommend ARE, hopefully they will hire more staff to fulfill orders, answer emails, and mark LIVE PLANT...
Read moreWe used the Antique Rose Emporium for our wedding in October 2016. This venue was perfect for our wedding because we wanted a beautiful, romantic, and intimate indoor/outdoor venue somewhere between Austin and Houston, but we didn’t want to spend a bunch of time and money on decorations. When you enter the grounds, you really feel like you are transported to a secret garden out of a fairy tale, so we only spent $100 on minimalistic center pieces and a couple other small items and the venue was so beautiful that was really all the decorations we needed. I first visited the venue on a cold, rainy day in December, and it was equally as beautiful then as all the subsequent trips I made leading up to my October afternoon wedding. The tables and chairs we rented from the venue were all in good condition. Everything was provided as promised by the coordinator, who is very sweet and super responsive. The venue was clean and orderly when we showed up. The staff was very kind and responsive to all of our needs. If you have already looked at the pictures of this venue and it seems even remotely close to what you want for your wedding, I would highly recommend setting up an appointment to visit the venue and seeing it...
