Tucked in the heart of the South Hills, the Brentwood Public Library is a cozy, community-focused gem that offers something for every age. While modest in size, this library punches above its weight with a warm atmosphere, thoughtful programming, and well-used spaces.
Families will especially appreciate the bright and inviting childrenâs area, where colorful rugs, kid-sized furniture, and well-stocked shelves create a welcoming world for young readers. Storytime events, crafts, and educational programs keep local children engaged year-round. Itâs a safe, vibrant space that encourages a love of books from an early age.
For older adults, Brentwood Library offers designated rooms and quieter corners that serve as gathering places for book clubs, lifelong learning classes, and friendly conversation. Whether youâre there for a morning puzzle, an afternoon knitting group, or a casual meetup with friends, the space is calm, accessible, and senior-friendly.
Though it serves a relatively small borough, the Brentwood Library functions like a true hub. Patrons can expect free Wi-Fi, helpful staff, a rotating selection of new books and DVDs, and a steady calendar of events that reflect the townâs values: education, connection, and care. Itâs not flashyâbut thatâs the point....
Read moreI canât say enough about how much my son and I love this library! All the staff is so welcoming and friendly. I was 8 months pregnant with my my toddler ready for a library day only to find out they were closed. Pregnancy hormones kicked in along with a toddler meltdown. The staff was so incredible and let us come in and enjoy the kids area along with snacks and water. We were so grateful and felt so much love. The kids area is one of the better ones in the area in my opinion. Loaded with a train table, kitchen, grocery counter, small climbing blocks and stepping stones, puzzles, drawing table, and more. The childrens books line the play area making it easy for moms to pick out books while little ones play. I also appreciate the stickers on the books for animal, truck, trains, Dino, etc lovers. Makes it easier to find books toddlers love. All in all one of our favorite libraries in the...
Read moreIt was my first time in this library, and first time in a library in a long time and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful! While the front desk being surrounded by rope barriers was a bit intimidating, I was greeted and asked how I could be helped immediately upon entering, easing any anxiety. I got my library card quickly and efficiently and began my liesurely hunt for some good finds. I was guided to the sections I was in search of and when I couldn't find what I was looking for, I used the computer search. One of the staff came over and pulled the books I was looking for and put an order in for a book they didn't have! I left with some gems in hand and look forward to going back weekly, even if just to enjoy a serene environment and friendly conversation. I appreciate the eagerness of staff, while still adhering to the current Covid...
