An attractive, hole-in-the-wall Nepali restaurant I noticed pop up on my commute. Having a taste for food of all kinds, and quite liking the local Nepali flare, I decided to give it a try! And I was not disappointed.
When I went to pick up my food, I noticed the interior was small, clean, and fairly well put together. Perhaps a little crowded in spots, but they definitely put effort in. There are even some drawable placemats for kids (albeit I didn't see any Crayons, so perhaps BYO).
The service took time and patience, but they're a small business. They saw to me as best I could, even though there was a bit of a wait. Nothing that I'm concerned about, but if you are, just be prepared if that is the case.
As for the food, it was delightful. I didn't get as massively sized portions as some of the local Nepali places provide, but everything I did get was flavorful, and full of good stuff.
The Chatpatay was hot. This was probably the first Nepali cuisine location nearby that wasn't afraid to really humble me with its food. I've had heat build up over time, and I've had the initial kick of some thing set me back. But this place really raised the bar on me, so if you want spice, you can find it here.
Though, not everything is super spicy. My pork sekuti was more middling in its spice, and my sadeko momo were about mild in terms of spice, but also very delicious.
So, really, you can find just about anything here if you're willing to look. And it's a quaint spot that could definitely deserve support as one of our...
Read moreVery high quality, delicious, and authentic Nepali restaurant. They also have a few Indian options as well, like the classic curries and such. The prices are all extremely fair and quite cheap, and portions are adequate. I got to try their kothey momo dumplings and a mango lassi.
The kothey momo dumplings were extremely tasty. They are filled with lots of vegetables and some sort of meat, which I think is pork. Very tasty, and they do not go sparingly on the spice. Filling too.
The kothey momo come with a choice of sweet or spicy sauce on the side. I ordered the sweet sauce. However, the sweet sauce wasn’t very sweet — it was actually quite spicy. Maybe they gave me wrong sauce, or maybe even the sweet sauce is extremely spicy.
The mango lassi was pretty good, but not anything too too special. Creamy, sweet, and it hits the spot. For $5, not a bad portion, but nothing too great either.
All in all, quite enjoyed this spot. Nice, flavorful, and spicy Nepali food. The setting itself is relaxed and it’s easy to miss. But, stopping by...
Read moreFirst time here. My SO and I have never had nepali food before. For me, I was expecting that punch of spices from the Tikka masala but it didn't have it. I didn't realize nepali food was going to be less flavor packed (but it's healthier) than actual Indian food. That's my personal preference. It was still good but for me, I was quite disappointed. Plus for like $12 the portion was small. We ended up with a dish we didn't order instead of one we did. It was like puffed cereal with different spices. We ordered noodles but got that instead. We thought that maybe we said it wrong but he repeated our order to us the way we ordered it... but my SO loved it. I wasn't a huge fan but again that's my preference. He loved the red tea. He loved all of it. For me, I was really disappointed. I had different expectations and they weren't met. I don't fault the restaurant at all. It's a me thing. Definitely check it out if you want a...
