Buchanan Town Park — Attraction in Buchanan

This is a wonderful park for a pleasant, quiet visit. The park extends 200 yards along the James River and the view of the hills on the other side is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained and free of trash. There is a completely fenced play area for small children and it's located near the parking lot for easy access. A basketball court is there, too. A small boat rental shop is next to the boat launch and fishing is popular here. The iconic swinging bridge is right next to the park. It's plenty safe and doesn't feel too tippy when you walk across, so have fun with it and enjoy the view. Be advised - there are active train tracks on the other side of the river, so be careful over there. The park is a hotspot for birding and you'll be able to spot plenty to add to your list. Very chill medium size community park. It's clean and well maintained. Boat launch, gazebo, ball fields, basketball court, playground and picnic area just to name a few amenities.
