My first escape room, and first for a few in my group as well. We all had fun and enjoyed solving the puzzles working together (Butcher's). Lots of spoilers in this review, fyi
Personally I was expecting more out of it, though the issues I had might just be representative of escape rooms in general.
puzzles were unclear, you could skip ahead and dead-end in a not-yet solvable portion, diagrams were unclear, hints weren't optional?, decor vs puzzle was unclear, the upselling at the end was way too much, puzzles were repetitive with almost no variety, puzzles weren't thematically consistent or logical for the premise
Alex was a great host. Personable, sweet, thorough. I do think that hosts shouldn't be told to upsell, but that's not really on Alex. I already know I can do another escape room lol, that's implied unless you're closing, so even if you're asking in passing, it's weird, especially cause we are meant to book it ahead of time and arrive early. Combined with upselling multiple different things and repeat asks, and over such a long span of time, trapped and with our stuff held hostage, it's uncomfy. She gave us an extra pity 5 minutes as well which was nice!
Hit the character limit, so I screenshotted my full review for anyone interested!
Edit/owner response: the first thing my review said was we had fun, it didn't say we were offended. I'm sorry if my review came off harsh? It seems it must've, because you seemed to be responding kind of rudely and ignoring most of my review in favor of throwing jabs. Sorry, I only meant to be helpful.
And I didn't say the room is a dead-end or not solvable, I said the way one part is structured leads you to start the next puzzle. And that next puzzle isn't solvable if you skipped...
Read moreThis review is only for the owner, not for the actual folks that provide the assistance in the game. If the owner also does this, then this is still for her. Administrators of Exit Stratgey need to learn what Customer Service is. Her name is Janelle Woodbury, a horrible business owner. Please understand, we did NOT request a Refund. No REFUND WAS REQUESTED!!!!!!!!!! I dont know how many times we had to say this. NO DAMN REDUND WAS REQUESTED!!!! WE SIMPLY asked to have the 3 peoples value that could not show up due to illness be credited for a future event where we would pay for our re entry(4 people) and get the other 3 we paid for that could not attend use the credit. This was our second time visiting it and said we would attend again with MORE MONEY!!!! Not only did the owner refuse, she became argumentative and would not compromise. I too, own a small business and will always find a middle ground, but the difference is, I hold true to being human when someone wants to make arrangements. Terrible Customer Service, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER service. There are MANY OPTIONS for this type of entertainment, my family, friends social groups, business colleagues, Social Blogs will make sure people know what type Customer service this place provides AND NOT SPEND ANY MONEY HERE!!! Good luck, I only see your attitude and loss of Customer service as your business is probably failing. You don't care how it looks outside or inside for that matter. How your product looks definitly represents how your business is going. One word sums...
Read moreWe’re always on the lookout for family friendly escape rooms, so we were excited to learn about the “Hide and Squeak” squirrel room at Exit Strategy. Our game master, Gigi, made the experience so fun and positive, and we appreciated all of the kid-friendly puzzles and playful tone of the room. This is a great room for families, those new to escape rooms, and anyone who enjoys a lighthearted room. I appreciated how it was always clear which locks belonged with which puzzle—it’s a detail that makes the experience so much more fun when you’re working mainly with manual locks. It’s closing soon, so get in to try it while you can!
We had so much fun that we stayed and did another escape room later that day: the Wizard Room with Michael as our GM. This room was more tech-based and had a very different feel to the squirrel room, but the humor and fun remained a common thread throughout. There were multiple surprises and “wow” moments in the wizard room that we really enjoyed. The set was immersive, and we felt like real wizards by the time we were done.
Both Michael and Gigi made our experience great, and we highly recommend Exit Strategy!
Had to edit to add that we returned to do the 2 Christmas escape rooms, and we had a fantastic time once again! Celidah was a wonderful and attentive game master for both rooms, helping us on our journey to save Christmas (twice!) We hope more fun family-friendly rooms come from Exit Strategy so we have an excuse to come out and visit again. Thanks so much for the fun day...
