Port San Luis use to be the place to go. Not so much now. There are many new rules which are not posted except at the site. No dogs allowed on DOG BEACH any more. No place for our traveling companions, dogs, to relieve themselves. Every dirt patch now has a sign stating "Sensitive Area Stay Out". There are still dogs on Dog Beach. There is still a dog poop bag station setup next to the sensitive area signs. The camp host said, in email, she doesn't agree with the no dogs on beach rule. I pointed out 7 dogs on the beach to her, she said she notified harbor patrol. Guess who never showed up to enforce this rule. There was a camper stuck, yelling for help, trying to climb a 75ft cliff going from Dog Beach to the cliff camping sites. Unable physically to help I called the harbor patrol office, spoke to Chris. It took Chris 25 minutes before responding to help. Other campers ended up helping her. Cars are parked in clearly marked No Parking areas yet harbor patrol never bothered to look into this, even after driving past these vehicles several times. To all of us campers it looks like they only enforce rules when they want to. There is a terrible speeding problem in front of the waterfront campsites. The roadway is posted 15mph limit but noone enforces it. There are many many issues that need to be addressed...
Read moreGreat place to catch fish and a great place to relax that is mostly dog free. Read moreWhat a great place to come and let your dog run free! It should be understood that dogs are dogs and it is the responsibility of the owner to make judgment calls on the hostility of thier animal. Also, it's a good thing the tide comes in twice a day to wash away all the dog urine and fecies. And wouldn't it be better to just let the dog pooh biodegrade naturally instead of wrapping it in a plastic bag only to take an extra 150 years because half of the people don't bother to take the bag of pooh with them after doing their part of...
