if you like peaceful and not crowded beaches, goat rock state beach with its magnificent breath taking views is the one. Watching the sunset was the highlight of my visit. just make sure you carry a sun screen and try to stay close to the restrooms! i did not see any showering area. Make sure to make the right shortcut to get to the beach. i found some of them steep and dangerous. you should also be aware that there is no wifi available. download some music into your cell phone to add to your fun. Do not swim alone. there is no life guard on duty. Check the weather also to avoid being disappointed. do not forget the water and to avoid the littering bring a trash bag with you. Blind Beach where we go is just south of the main road entrance, and to reach it you can park either up on top of the cliff and climb down which is rather hazardous, or you can park via a one lane road right next to Goat Rock
Blind Beach has dogs off leash, and dogs are allowed as I understand it, possible that leashes are required but people don't use them all the time
It is almost inaccessible to get the Blind Beach because of the storms and the rocks have moved and removed the EZ path that used to be there

The Russian River empties into the ocean at this beach so there are two types of shoreline here--one on the river and one on the ocean. My kids age 3 & 5 had a blast playing in the calm water on the river side. The beach was covered in driftwood and there was probably a dozen forts made by prior beach visitors. It is seal pup season now so we also had a chance to enjoy watching the mama seals and their pups as they rested on the sand.
