Goat Rock Beach is our family favorite. We've been coming here for almost 20 years when my wife was pregnant with our first and her baby girl was just a toddler. We always go on the south side of Goat Rock, which is Blind Beach. The parking lot between the coast and Goat Rock works as a wave break and the beach is a much more gentle slope and less active. It's also dog friendly, so bring the pup, but bring bags to pick up your dog's duty. There are pit toilets at the parking lot. We were here yesterday on a Tuesday and there were very few people on the beach. My daughters had a blast chasing crabs kicked up by the surf. Walk out to where the Russian river flows into the ocean on the north side of the beach to check out the sea lions. Don't forget to hit Old Chicago Pizza Co. in Petaluma on...
Read moreI had been here once. I came back to this area again ( July/2/20). It is no parking fee. Blind Beach, Wrights Beach, and Goat Beach are same driving distance. It has 3 different parkings. I was hiking in Kortum trail ones before last year. It was leading me from Blind Beach to Wrights Beach, and down to Goat Beach. Absolutely breathtaking. I came back this time just for visiting the ocean. The body of the ocean and the waves of this beach are very special. The color of waves are brown and looks a little dirty. The ocean is beauty and the stranger. It has a lot of large rocks laying around. Those rocks making a loud sounds every time the waves come. I’m so curious about the color of the waves. Can you give me an answer, or I will have to back to this beach again and learn. Happy...

The sounds of waves crashing against the beach were heard clear from the parking lot. Along the wide sandy beach is where you can see great rock arches and natural coves. The beach is made up of fine dark sand and small pebbles. This is not a place you will want to swim, since the waves are too strong and the sea floor drops deep and fast. During the months of December through April are perfect for whale watching. Dogs are not allowed, because it is home to a colony of Pacific harbor seals. Bring a blanket, picnic or a good book and enjoy this beautiful beach. IG:...
