Normally a nice place, but the lake levels were super low. Boats are allowed if you follow the golden mussel restrictions (which are more stringent than other lical lakes), but only a few places to launch due to levels. Not many boats when we were there. Again, due to water levels, swimming isn't great unless you have a boat. The day use areas are charging fees for sub-par facilities...dry rocky desert-like ground with virtually no shade, and sink-to-your-ankles in mud shorelines. We stupidly paid the day use fee at Greenhorn, stayed a whopping 15 minutes, then left.
It all should be back to normal soon when levels come up. But for now, unless you have a boat, I wouldn't bother. We were told that the Nevada Irrigation District has the stricter rules because the lake is their water supply, and recreation is not the priority. I get it, but maybe decrease the fees to be in line with the current amenities...which is not...

Read moreLove this place A little expensive for $15 vehicle day use and $17 to launch my inflatable kayak. That being said it is a beautiful clean reservoir. The facilities are clean and don’t make you feel like you just walked into a scene from texas chainsaw massacre. I couldn’t help but notice people accessing the reservoir from other points which is probably a good way to avoid the entry and use fee. Still a great place to go to. Most places to beach and picnic are accessible only by water so it can be a good explorative way to find your little private spot. It gets really crowded...
