So first off, I am an honest person. I have never camped at Peninsula Campgrounds. I had to give 1 star to be able to post a review. I’m pretty sure it’s very nice campground. With that said, I did make reservations on 6-10-25. But then had to cancel them the next day (less than 24hrs). Tried calling them (peninsula campgrounds), no answer except voicemail. Left voicemail w/my phone# to call me back confirming cancellation. No return phone call was attempted till Thursday. Now since I did not get a return, call after trying for several days and numerous times within the day of calling and having to leave messages. My last message was that I was going to put a stop payment due to the fact that they were not contacting me, to let me know. I finally received a call on that Thursday afternoon from a very polite lady, letting me know that they did get the message that their office has been closed due to renovations or construction, and they were unable to answer any voicemails understandable. Unfortunately, I had already set in motion to stop payment on my bank card that I made the reservations on. As my bank goes any money that they may have put in my account from the stop payment they will take back. I did receive my refund from Peninsula Campground so everything’s fine with my bank. As of today, June 11, I received a very nasty phone call from a person working at Peninsula Campground the woman started out immediately being rude. I could not quite understand what she was talking about. She accused me of saying that I filed a grievance with Paypal against them. I did not use Paypal! She wouldn’t let me talk. When I finally was able to talk, she interrupted me yelling, then telling me that I was banned from the campgrounds. When I asked for a manager or a supervisor, she told me she was the manager. I could care less if I’m banned from that Campground. I never have camp there anyways. I usually camp at Orchard Springs, which is the nicest campground in the area (in my opinion). But for this woman to call me and start braiding me and not calm down and say the things that she said, I will badmouth Peninsula Campground now and forever even if I was allowed back there, I would not go just due to a staff member. Hopefully this woman will read. She should not be dealing with campers or any customer service positions if she doesn’t know how to talk to people. I will make sure I will spread the word, not to use this campground. “It takes one bad apple to spoil...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Peninsula Campground and it definitely wont be our last! We booked a waterfront spot and it was absolutely beautiful, the park is so well cared for. The restrooms and showers are some of the cleanest we have ever seen. The Campground staff was so welcoming and helpful. We had a quick chat with the dayshift maintenance man, I think he said his name was Chris, he was so helpful and friendly, you can tell that he really takes pride in the work that he does! The lake was warm and refreshing, we brought our Kayaks and Paddleboards and had a great time exploring the nooks and crannies of Rollins Lake, both of the ladies that work in the store and front entrance were also so friendly and accommodating, our daughter forgot her paddle at home and the supervisor on site was nice and loaned us her personal paddle for us to use, the park is not far from I80, the trees provide the perfect amount of shade, the deer and turkeys were frequently visiting all areas of the Campground, it was fun to get out of the city and into the woods to enjoy nature, the two ladies that work the store and front entry also come out at night to collect trash and to clean the bathrooms, we can tell that the on-site management really enjoys what they do and making sure that everyone is happy and satisfied, I will wrap up with they also take the quiet hours and no fires seriously, we had adjacent neighbors who were extremely loud and disrespectful, the managers were great at going in and asking them to be quiet, for new campers, keep in mind that when conditions become unsafe for fires, they restrict wood burning and charcoal bbq's. We can't wait to book our 2026 camping trip at...
Read moreArrived for our reserved cabin at 3:30pm, check in is 3. Whole place was abandoned, there was a sign on the check in booth saying to just go to your campsite and check in, in the morning. So we went to our cabin, it was locked. We called the number, walked around and looked for literally anyone, to no avail. The window on the cabin was open so we unlocked the door to access. Around 9pm a very rude woman suddenly appeared and made us feel extremely unwelcome. Told us the keys were taped to the check in booth when they most definitely were not, there’s 5 of us who looked. Seems they didn’t realize they have a reservation today and forgot, then tried to blame it on us. The cabin was covered in Cobb webs, looked like the door hadn’t even been opened in a few months. The bbq was completely broken and just thrown on the ground. The volleyball court is completely overgrown. The deck around the store is literally rotted, felt like it could cave in any second from walking on it. save your money and go elsewhere or just stay home. Seems they just like to collect money from people and not actually take care of the place at all. Sad to see cause this place used to be really cool. We booked two nights but staying just the one. Edit: we finally had a very nice lady show up the next day in the morning, she was super apologetic so we appreciate...
